Hello there, I have just opened up an illusion show all summer long. The early show is a family show and there will be lots of kids there. I was considering adding a super x to float a child from the audience. I was wondering what techniques all of you super x performers use to prevent the kiddo from seeing the secret? Thank you all in advance.

Cover their face with a plastic bag...er, CLOTH maybe?
That's one advantage of the Flying Carpet over the Super X. Their position makes it harder to crane their neck around to see the secret. I've got a slightly used Bill Smith Chair Suspension sitting here that would solve your problem, W_S. <wink> LOL! (Gee, hope the other guys have better advice...) Good luck! Dan Wolfe |

"You're in show biz now kid". Have them turn their head to the audience and put on a smile. You can get some mileage out of the whole situation. PM me if you want.

A spotlight in the face will make it hard to see. Use black velvet on angles that they could see.

Although I don't have a super X I have toyed with the idea of getting one as I hate the chair suspension with a passion!
however here is my take on the issue. first why does the kid have to lay down on his back why not have him on his side facing the audience with his head resting on his hand lifted up so every one can see him,. the one thing I don't like about levitations is that you can not see the face. any way that's my little thought hope it helps sam

Dan was kind of joking, but really not. You can do the chair suspension and not have to worry about anything. It's not quite as impressive - after all you don't remove both chairs, but ask someone a week later and they'll tell you they saw the person float without supports. You might give it a try - I have both the European suspension and an original Super-X - and the chair suspension is 10 times easier in every respect.

Thanks for all of your help guys, you have all given me a lot of great suggestions!! I have actually souped up the super X in a way that it doesn't even come close to representing a super x anymore. I use two chairs to hold up the board like in a chair suspension, only I can remove both chairs and it is still a walk away suspension! It just requires some creative choreography and prop placement. I was thinking of marketing them, but as Mr. Wolfe knows....as soon as I do that the rip off artists come a running. The only issue I had left to resolve was the kid seeing the gimmick. Thanks again!
