Okay guys, here's the story...I've been a part-time-pro the past 20-some years, working resturaunts, various gigs, etc. and also inventing and marketing a few things in the past all with good results.
I'm pretty much out of perforiming now due to back and leg problems. Standing and bending slightly forward like when working tables just kills the back!! So guess those days are over except for doing stuff for friends or whatever in less painfull situations and positions! There are some effects I've came up with, of course inspired by things I've seen or knew like most all "new inventions" are, that I thought about releasing and with the present situation, plan to do but want to see what people here on the 'Cafe think of them...just from the descriptions of the first two which I might offer together. These are two main ones I've used for years with the second one a "closser" that really "get's 'em"!! Really don't have "trick names" for these (never needed them 'til now) but the effects are as follows: *I show a lady at the table or wherever a blue backed deck of cards and thumb off a few saying I could give her one off the top but that'd be too easy...so I want her to THINK of a card that "fits her" and I'll try and cut to one near the center that does also. That done I give her the card to hold and say how if it's a card like the Jack of Spades, that wouldn't compliment her very much...but what card is she thinking of?? If she says the Queen of Hearts (and that happened alot!) she turns the car over and that's what it is. If she names something else (usually a heart or diamond) I say "well...I missed it but still cut to a card that fits you" Since it's the QD it stil turns out "nice" but there's more... Her or I put the Queen face down back into the near center of the face down deck and I say how the QH is a very special card in that if I turn the top card of the deck face up (I do that) then every card in the deck turns face up except the Queen!! I spread the cards and they are all now face up!! The face down Queen (or whatever card you're using for this)is placed face up on top of the face up deck and I have her take another card from the spread that she feels like. The deck is turned face down and I tell her that's cool as that card she just picked (have her turn it over) is the one with the red back!! I take the red card from her and place it face up on top of the face down (blue) deck (again) but explain the deck always does what her top card does...it doesn't turn face up this time...but that was a red backed card...and now they ALL are!! The deck is spread to show that now every card has a red back!!* Don't know if I 'splained this well...but it always plays great!! About 3 seconds to re-set and ready to go again. Okay, the second one is takes less time to tell the effect of...but like I said, really get's 'em!! * I shuffle 'n mix the cards (any color deck here!) and they can even cut 'em. Now they touch the back of ANY card (NO force..top, middle, bottom or anywhere in between) I give 'em that card and they put their hand on it or hold it where it can't be seen as it's a "mystery card". I flip the deck faces up and thumb throught 'em so they can see it's not a "whole deck of same mystery card" and explain how I'm going to try and find the 3 matching cards for the one they picked but they or I don't know (I really don't!) I give the deck a couple cuts and turn over the first card (say it's a "3" of whatever) and place it on the table or someone else to hold facedown. The next "3" I'm going to count to and I count down 16 or so cards and there's another "3"! I say that "if I get two of 'em I just riffle down to the last "3" even though I usually miss on this one". Sure enough, I cut to the riffle and stopped at card and it's not the last "3"...but I thumb through 'em 'til I find it and tell 'em I was about however many cars off. I place that on on the table face down and tell 'em they can turn the "3" they've been holding over now!! Adding how in Las Vegas four "3's" would be a really good poker hand! Only thing is, the card they picked isn't a "3" but a different card!! I always act like "ohh noo" but then turn the 3 cards slowly over on the table and they match the origional card!!* There are a couple versions of something like this that I know of but the handling of one is ALOT more difficult and the other it's the same cards every time. Remember...this is a totally free choice, easy handling and the is a different card every time and the 3 "found" cards are different cards so they all match at the end!! Anyway, if I offer these first two together, I'd post a video(s) of them and email the "how to and all the details" video to whoever bought 'em. Oh yea, since I'm not trying to get rich with these, both together would be about $20 (no more!!) Depending on what feedback I get from this. Hope everybody likes the way these sound and that I made 'em easy to understand what happens and all THANKS!!! |

Wow!! 162 views and no replies!!?? Maybe this is a 'Cafe record??:)
Actually that's not bad...I coulda got 89 replies saying something like "these sound like they suck"!! Since money is really tight right now (we're kinda in between being broke and not having any money) I'm going to post a couple videos of these being performed and HOPE that everybody will be interested in 'em. Still hoping to get $20 for the instructions to these and to make it a really good offering, I'm going to include ALL my workings on the "signed, folded, card to impossibe location" for free (and no "just pay additional handling and processsing" either!). I've been working on ways to do this the past many years and have come up with some good methods (I think) two methods where the folded card ends up perfectly folded. Of course this allows any of the "signed folded card" effects and props out there to have the the finish be even better as it looks like you spent some time carfully folding the card earlier. But here's the real killer I'd include also... This is one I thought I'd never release but desperate times...you know? This is my "Signed, Folded, Playing Card to Sealed Sugar Packet"!! This would be full instructions on how to make the gimmick (costs pennies and easy to do if you take your time...a gimmick will last a long time)and all the handlings, etc. The times I did it at resturaunts or wherever, it got the BEST reactions of anything(s) I've ever done! I showed this to a VERY well know magician (I don't know if he'd want his name used here but let's just say he's released SEVERAL DVDs and is WELL known on the 'Cafe here!) at a lecture about 5 years ago and he loved it!! His quote was "...that's beautiful!...you could sell that!!.." So anyway...let me know what you think about this "deal"??? I'm thinking the "Card To Sugar Packet" is worth way more than $20...and that's with my other two and free mailing. Just want to give people a good deal and still be able to pay some bills and have a few extra beers a week (okay...well maybe 30 extra a week but cheap beer anyway). Thanks!!! |

A good video should boost interest in the routines, Tom. The sugar packet trick sounds cool.
Like Bonnie Raitt said, "I miss Little Feat more than I miss being 8 years old." Thanks for the concerts + recordings, Lowell, Richie, and Paul!

I would need a video demo for my interest to be peeked Tom. It sounds like a great idea though!
