My first cards were some Marvin's Magic Bridge size cards and I quickly moved to poker size.

I think my first deck was either aviator or fox lake.
My favorites now are Carta Mundi Black Jacks and Tally Ho.

I am pretty sure my first deck of cards was an Aviator deck.

My first cards were also the Bicycle Standard deck. The second deck was a black spooky deck that looked great but people questioned. So I went back to the Bicycles and buy the 12 packs at Costco to save some dough.

My very first was a deck from a cookie brand (Lotus, haha), they had been sitting in a box of crayons for years and I used them to practice the 'Cards from the mouth' (a big no-no) It kind of tastes funny..
After that I had gotten some radio station cards from a former acrobat, and after that I got into the Bee cards, perfect for flourishes, not so great for manipulation (i've got women's hands..) The most durable deck I've had so far is the standard Bycicle deck (red rider back) been using those (in my free time) for months now and they still fan well without any fanning powder! |

My grandparents used to go to Atlantic City a lot. My first decks were all bees and aristocrats from the casinos.

Being a little boy I was absolutely stunned by a magic dealer selling Svengalis at a German Christmas Fair. I still see that guy with his top hat, doing his card tricks, which were more than overwhelming to me at that time, and of course I had to own that card deck.

My first deck (which was maybe a whole 3 months ago) was a used casino deck from New York, New York that I picked up at a Gas Station on my way out on a camping trip so I could learn some basic stuff from Mark Wilson's Complete Course. I thought, if I'm going to be a magician, even a Kids Magician, I should broaden my horizons to include some cards & sponge balls, etc. Some stuff I can perform for adults, just for fun on the side. |

Poker cards from the $1 Store .. LOL $1 for 2 decks crappy cards. ( I thought I was so smart it was a great deal)lmao
I didn't know it would make a difference at that time. No one I know does magic tricks, I have no advice, no one to talk to. Later I brought myself some regular Bicycle poker cards. My favorite is the apple green color bicycle deck because I love the color green. And I love my Cardian Angel deck

I can't recall my very first but I tend to just get the regular bicycle cards that you see everywhere. I like them. Since my hands are small I started with the bridge size ones, but no longer.

The first cards I bought for my magic hobby was a pack of bridge size Kem playing cards. They looked and felt too plasticy, so I bought a pack of poker size copag cards. They were a lot better.
But from then on, I've been working with bicycle cards, bought a 12-pack of regular ones. They are nice. |

The first cards I ever bought for magic when I was a kid was a nasty plastic-y stripper deck. Getting back into it as an adult it was Bicycle Rider Backs, just like most people here. They're no where near as easy to come by in the UK as they seem to be in America I've only ever been able to get them at magic shops or online.
The other day I found myself without any cards and nowhere to buy good ones, so I went to WH Smiths and bought myself a deck of their 'luxury' cards. Nothing in the world has made me love good cards more. They were horrible and they died on me in less than a day of use. Absolute rubbish. |
