I was re-viewing the A-1 Multimedia "Learn to Levitate" DVD with Mike Maxwell demonstrating a variety of "floating effects" (Floating Bill; Levitating Bill; Floating Match; Swiss Movement; Dancing Cane; Floating Ball; Balducci Levitation) and he mentions "A-1 Multimedia is pleased to announce that Peter Pit will be doing a complete dancing cane video in the upcoming near future." He reiterates that at the end of the clip when he says "And as I said, Peter Pit will give you every detail you could ever want on the dancing cane on an upcoming video."
Was the Peter Pit A-1 dancing cane video ever produced?

I don't believe the late Peter Pit ever made a video concerning the Dancing Cane. He did market/sell his dancing cane with a routine outlined in the paper instructions.
I am sure L&L Publishing would have converted the video to DVD it was available, as they hold the A-1 line of tapes. I have his folding metal black cane with round wood knob, will sell if anyone is interested for $150.00. |

Bill, how did you obtain the Peter Pit cane? I have one just like you described, but I obtained it second-hand, and it had no documentation or instructions. I use it in a novel way in my sword basket currently

Bill, is the cane you're thinking about the one in the ad that I posted in the IBM Ring 103 post at this link?
https://www.facebook.com/photo?fbid=3628......20555581 The cane in that ad is a three-section aluminum cane with a heavy wood top. There is a strong elastic going through the hollow aluminum body so that the cane can be folded into thirds for carrying in an attache case. I found one of the Jerry Benson canes through a used magic ad. ----- Amado "Sonny" Narvaez

Anatole, No, I am not thinking, I have the Peter Pit Cane, in my hands. It is four section metal rods, much like the blind use to help them walk along the street. The knob on top is like you would find in "hot rod" car shift knob from the old days. It is not just a round ball, but with a neck that goes over the handle end of the shaft.
Peter Pit worked at the Magic Castle, and he ran his ads for his dancing cane in Genii. Small ad, it might have appeared in Linking Ring as well. The cane is very heavy. The end is a cone shaped metal much like a rifle bullet, most likely for attaching the elastic inside, as there a thin brass nail head sticking out. So it cannot be used as a walking stick, as the nail would wear down and need to be replaced. The cane shaft is thin, and black iodized or some kind of baked on flat black paint. It is nothing like a real walking stick cane as used in the old top hat and tails formal attire. From what I read about Peter Pit, he was somewhat of a dancer on stage, and used this type of cane in his act. |
