I really enjoyed it. Yes it's not 100% fair and they don't always stick to the premise but that's showbiz, they can do what they want. Alan, great job, I really enjoyed your performance. Richard did a much better job, I thought his 1st time round was really quite bad as he tried to be like Derren Brown with an off the shelf product (which I own btw). This 2nd performance was much better. I agree that the games dragged on a bit but I think it was a great move to get P&T involved in the routine. Richard is obviously more of a close up worker and I thought this time round he did an admirable job, he just needs to find his on stage persona and character.

The kid did a great job, he is only 10 years old. If I had to do the 6 card repeat in front of a TV audience would have been brickin' it and my hands would be shaking all over the place. He handled it very well and used some good solid gags. Romany was good as well.

I think shows like this really highlight how important presentation is in magic. I got a whole bunch friends over to watch last weeks show and they have seen me do lots of magic and they loved Piff but were completely bored by Alan's CD trick. They didn't understand why it was impossible or what the point of it was.

My advice to everyone is to watch this show with laypeople and get their reactions, you may be surprised by what they like or don't like. All in all any publicity is good publicity and I for one am glad there is a magic show back on UK TV.

I am in agreement with much of you. The Con-fab-shoe-lation trick had a fantastic ending but the actual routine itself was a bit awkward, not well-paced and tedious. Teller looked a little annoyed even. I think it would have been more impressive if Richard asked P&T to bring an ungimmicked book and they shot the dart on a random word for one of the selections. Of course I'm assuming that would be possible. I also was a fan of Piff!

The more I think on it the more of a slightly fishy smell arises from the Richard Bellars trick wherein a podium appears (how it appears is edited out of the show) for him to rest the briefcase on before the final reveal and that doesn't even occur to P & T as a significant moment.

It just feels like he was getting through come what may.

Some think Houdini used trap doors in his act, but he was just going through a stage.

The DVD has methods to accomplish this without an assistant but I am curious if that is the same approach used in Richards performance for P&T. If it is, this is spectacular. Hopefully someone here has one and can answer.

I saw that there is some construction involved with buidling a gimmick. I wonder how difficult this will be and how invovled?

Now available at Penguin... Confab-Shoe-Lation Smile

http://www.penguinmagic.com/p/2554

This is the effect that fooled Penn & Teller..

Please note construction is required and you will need to gimmick your shoe to perform Confab-Shoe-Lation

Richard has taken the confabulation plot to new heights of impossibility with their shoe reveal!

Richard has been performing Confab-Shoe-Lation in his stand-up act for well over a year and then decided it would be the ideal effect to fool Penn & Teller on national TV.

Effect

Imagine your spectators can name any 3 items and you have predicted them correctly in a note that you have kept safe in your shoe from the beginning of the show.

On this DVD Richard Bellars and Tom Swift (who is the co-creator of the effect) take you step by step through every aspect of the effect, including how to create the gimmick with your own shoe.

Vegas Vacation

This is the routine Richard Bellars and Peter Nardi devised for Richard’s corporate shows. It’s a great 3 phase routine using an imaginary trip to Vegas as the premise. After your spectators have played 3 popular casino games you reveal your prediction from your shoe. The prediction takes the form of a bill with all the scores written on the back.

Sorry if my question has seen asked already. I just bought this. Until buying this I've been simply pocket writing or using other methods and simply slipping the note in my shoe. Of course That doesn't work in all types of performing venues. So very interested about this and how diffulcult shoe construction will
Be. I should get this tomorrow in the
Mail, and would like to have it ready by Wednesday night, a stage , parlor performance I'm doing. Thanks for any help
