I see this book called Edgar Cayce's ESP

Who he was, what he said, how it came true.

Supposed to be the top dog ESP dude and documented.

(March 18, 1877 – January 3, 1945) Edgar Cayce was an American psychic who believed he had the ability to channel answers to questions on subjects such as healing or Atlantis while in a hypnotic trance. Though Cayce himself was a devout Christian and lived before the emergence of the New Age Movement, some believe he was the founder of the movement and influenced its teachings.

Cayce became a celebrity toward the end of his life and the publicity given to his prophecies has overshadowed what to him were usually considered the more important parts of his work, such as healing (the vast majority of his readings were given for people who were sick) and theology (Cayce was a lifelong, devout member of the Disciples of Christ). Skeptics challenge the statement that Cayce demonstrated psychic abilities, and traditional Christians also question his unorthodox answers on religious matters (such as reincarnation and Akashic records, although others accept his abilities as "God-given").

Today there are thousands of Cayce students and more than 300 books written about Edgar Cayce. Members of Cayce's organization, the Association for Research and Enlightenment (A.R.E.) exist worldwide and Edgar Cayce Centers are found in more than 35 countries.

Sorry, but that's the best I can do.

Cayce was famously known as "The Sleeping Prophet" and his life was documented in the best seller of the same name by Jess Stearn.

Many years back, when the PEA held its convention in Norfolk, several of us made our way to Virginia Beach to visit the A.R.E.. They had an ESP testing machine in the lobby. We had great fun cheating the thing and getting perfect scores, much to the amazement of the tourists and the bewilderment of the staff.

Good thoughts,

Bob

He seems to have helped a lot of people as a healer, and not done too well as a prophet. In any case, his prophecies were Theosophical in tenor and he was an important figure in the turn-of-the-century currents that shaped popular modern ideas of 'the psychic'.

A minor correction to Dynamike's post - the "New Age" Movement actually began with the rise of Madame Blavatsky's Theosophy movement in the second half of the 19th Century.

Cayce was arguably the most famous "psychic" of the 20th Century, so I'm a bit surprised that some mentalists have apparently never heard of him. I have often had audience members ask me about Cayce and other psychics.

Good thoughts,

Bob

PS- I have a sneaking suspicion that John knew full well who Edgar Cayce was when he made the original post.

Contact Bill Montana.......his best work (in my opinion) is based around Edgar Cayce

Before Cayce, before Madame Blavatsky's Theosophy Movement and even before the Fox sister there was Andrew Jackson Davis (1826-1910) an American who in 1847 wrote a sublime work that contained the following statement.

"It is a truth that spirits commune with one another while one is in the body and the other in the higher spheres - and this, too, when the person in the body is unconscious of the influx, and hence cannot be convinced of the fact; and this truth will ere long present itself in the form of a living demonstration. And the world will hail with delight the ushering in of that era when the interiors of men will be opened, and the spiritual communion will be established."

Cayce did not give his first reading till 1901.

Ah' yes, it is a very deep and dark well, worthy of exploration if your brave enough....

John knew!

Yes, I am surprised that never a mention of this character. Perhaps because he's the "real" thing?
