Received a couple of "specialized" nickels in the mail today. They're too heavy to work with "Rattled."
Just thought the curious should know. To me, the strongest if the routines involves a coin. Using any coin other than an American coin when performing in America, to me, sceams "gimmick" and draws attention to the props where otherwise there would be none; regardless as to what excuse you have for Indian coins. Again, its an ingenious item. But having to exchange faulty gimmicks for ones that work and purchase new "special" coins only to find out they don't work and now faced with finding a stronger gimmick to work with those coins to install into the item, (or abandon the routine I like with the coin), is getting frustrating. Any chance that the replacement caps on their way to me now have a stronger gimmick to work well with the American coins? One can only hope. I just wish "Rattled" had been more work-ready upon it's arrival to me than it has turned out to be and I'm hoping the added effort and expense on my part to make it into what it originally appears to be pays off. |

Janet,
I'm not saying that you aren't trying to make your customers happy or that you should have necessarily included location-appropriate coins with Rattled. (Though it would be nice!) But IMO the marketing mumbo-jumbo should mention this at the least. Presently a purchasor will go through ordering and paying for the product and then waiting out the shipping time, and then do that all over again for appropriate coins. Your comment about offering Rattled and the ability to order such coins at the same time is a great one and much appreciated! Of course it should be pre-determined that the local magnetic coins will actually work with Rattled first. Bendy, that's a real shame! I wonder if such gimmicked coins can be weighted differently? If so I have never seen any references to weight on the product pages for those coins. I think the answer will be found in strengthening the Rattled gimmick itself, as you mentioned. Man oh man, looks like it's going to cost you triple or more to get yours working! Bet you didn't see that coming! (Hey man, is it hot in Kissimmee? Hehe - I know better; former resident of the Sunshine State! Say 'Hi' to Mickey for me!) Jim |

If I remember right, if you leave a metal object on a strong magnet overnight it will be slightly magnetized in the morning. You might want to try this with your nickles. It might give it enough oomph to work with the cap. |

You can use a really strong neo to charge the nickels.

Bill & Larry: That's a good idea about trying to charge the nickels. Not sure it will work, but I've got a BUNCH of very strong neo m*****s; so I can certainly give that a shot.
Jim: It's hot and muggy in Kissimmee. Was at EPCOT just this past evening and every time I walked from an air-conditioned building out into the weather, it was like walking into a bowl of soup! ...But I'll take hot and muggy any day over cold and snowy. I love Florida!! |

I got a set that works! Woot! (Thanks, Janet!)
And a friend gave me a couple of the old steel pennies; which work like a dream. So if you've got Rattled, don't bother trying to acquire or use "specially made" quarters or nickels. ...Get yourself a steel penny or two and you are totally in business! Using the new, working props in conjunction with the U.S. pennies that were made of steel back in the 40's, this is like real magic to the spectators. I did this in a Chipotle restaurant this evening and it killed. I did it for a friend who isn't a magician, but who knows how much of it works and he was completely floored. I did it a second time for him...still floored. Awesome. |

The great thing about this trick is that it encourages you to carry a water bottle around, which may lead you to drink more water, which is something most people should do regardless, lol.
When I got this, I more or less assumed the Indian coins were a throw-in bonus that wasn't essential to the real effect, so I wasn't disappointed, but I did wonder at the wisdom of including such suspicious looking coins in what is otherwise a top notch effect. I am not sure about steel pennies because I have not seen one up close and wonder if they look strange?? I see them for sale on Amazon by the bag, and while I wouldn't want to spend the money for an entire bag for my own use, it's clear that the cost is low enough that two of these coins could be included (in lieu of the suspicious Indian coins) with no real impact on the price of the trick. |

Well you know it's funny. Let's say you have the absolute most gaffed suspicious looking coins ever invented. And now you have a plastic bottle cap (or 2). You place your "most gaffed suspicious looking coin" under a cap (in plain view) and then your spectator moves it around and hears the coin---then it vanishes! If anyone has a gaffed coin that will do that---please let me know. The coins would not look suspicious in parts of the world by the way. I actually use the coins and show them to people to handle and inspect. So far no one has said "Yep it's them coins that's how he did it".

I have just purchased 'Rattled' and am extremely pleased with it and have devised a routine using a spectators ring and Ring Flight. I have tried it out in the real world and it received a terrific reaction. If anybody is interested I would be happy to give them the details.
Incidently if you are in the U.K it works great with the penny coins. Cheers Terry |
