D___ R______. Ticks all the boxes and could be described as one of the oldest tricks in the book. Wouldn't be much of an effect for the spectators though. Almost instant s____ing. DR in a chair routine! Maybe the way to fool p&t is to do the classics with a completely unexpected method. Throw them off.

Are we guessing at methods now?

I've gone through the permutations needed using DR and it would take some b*lls to do.
Remember: The food may be in place just after the start and names got but which table they end up at doesn't get decided till near the end. You would have to hope that the 3 people she picked were not as thick as 2 short planks as one word out of place giving the game away and you could have a major disaster on your hands. Anyway, saying anything further on an open forum wouldn't be right so I'll leave it there.

I enjoyed it. Didn't like the reveal though, why recap every step before the climax? and after the 1st table each subsequent reveal began to lose impact as the audience has already seen it. Not sure if there was any other way to run it though will have to re watch.
The only thing that got me thinking method wise is " is the food hot? is it just a rubber type thing? doeshe have to cook 3 dinners every time he performs this?"

But seriously it was obviously dressed up for TV as in the pre-performance video where he said he was practising it at a local magic meet, he just used plain chairs, no tables and I have no idea what he used for the food. So he obviously has different versions suitable for different venues and price ranges. I mean Derren Brown did a chair routine without chairs and just poles that they stood by. But it was still a chair routine.

I think this a fantastic show. I can only see youtube clips but it keeps me wanting more.

It's fine if you are playing a large Copperfield type stadium or theatre, if 3 people know then there are still a few 1000 none the wiser, but in a small venue, everyone else will know within 3 seconds of them getting back to their seat.

I think it was a special pan. With 3 ways to open the pan.
I f I was him I would let the spectators to open the cover to show there is no trick there. I saw many dovepans in children magic shows and everyone knows they are gimmicked I also suspect that some one was sitting under each table and was cocking the meals Why not showing there is no one under the table. And a clue to the rest of you, the method was also published in Magic magazine by ?.. Lior

I've read BR's version that some thought it was but I see no mention of chefs under tables.

He seemed to imply that if the same thing happened again on the show itself, then the whole routine would be blown (or at least the method discovered!)..... |

Well mentalists tend to have steel ones, not sponge ones.

I prefer an easier, and much safer version as I really don't think it makes that much difference to 99% of lay people. (Which is what I meant when I posted earlier that it is more impressive to us as we know things to be impressed about that a lay audience shouldn't know at all)
