In mirror work, I've found Spellbound looks more REALISTICALLY MAGICAL...in my humble opinion, this way: to take a regular size coin in one hand ready for Spellbound, with jumbo hidden in opposite hand...
Focus with eyes on regular coin in Sp. Bound position -- about to be changed -- and slightly lower it toward palm it's in with same fingers holding -- by fingers moving it slightly at an angle toward you downward, but coin still very much in view -- then do Spellbound move. But not a HORIZONTAL swipe. Rather than swiping, do a LIFTING move out of the palm holding the regular coin -- with Jumbo suddenly appearing... appear as if you're lifting the regular-size visible coin back in FULL view and somehow it's quadrupled in size... There's a more magical, visual and credible transformation than a horizontal swipe, I believe. |

Interesting but beyond your slight discription here, a short vid would do wonders as to showing us exactly what you mean. Maybe our senses will be more enlightened as to your presentation aka (in this case at least), seeing is believing...Make us believe.
In the meantime, this might be about as good as it gets when it comes to any greater aspects of Spellbound to date. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DrerCBHYff0

There's been some exploration of that idea, using a fast fingertip production done from Tenkai Palm in one hand and the usual actions (from fingertips w/wo thumb or on fingers) in the "from" hand. Joe Monti did that stuff very well, and a French Drop type take where the coin expanded a beat after the coin was supposedly taken was quite the amusement at the time. Circa 1979-80.
BTW,Joe was among those who could do a full Spellbound type switch using two jumbo coins with almost no fear of coins talking.
...to all the coins I've dropped here

Yeah fonda, that's probably about as good as it gets when it comes to Spellbound, or if not I'd like to see anything any better. I admit I haven't seen them all but from what I've seen that one is pretty hard to beat as to move variety, creativity and sheer technical finesse.
JT, sounds something like my 10 Switch somewhat, only different. Hey you've seen a lot, have you seen any better a Spellbound than the one I posted? In comparison the one by Roth seems very tame.

Ponta's new(ish) spellbound. I really like the toss change and the clean up at the end. (Sorry this really isn't jumbo..) |

Man, that's a bad dude. Defintely on another level and certainly one of the premier coin guys out there bar none. If you challenge this guy you sure better bring it. I've seen all sorts of guys do coin magic, good-better-best but for this part of the road Ponta walks alone. You know somebody, anybody technically better then show me? Star Trek's Mr. Spock said it best about the truly unique, "Fascinating!"
