I feel subtly ill. O.k., not so subtly. I'm starting my diet today. Seems right for some reason.

Lol... I'll learn never to watch videos after I eat breakfast. Parenthetically that was NOT a great representation of "jazz hands". On a good note, it certainly took our minds of the subtle distinctions between "a finger snap" and "casting a shadow"!

Well, that large version of jazz hands certainly had some strong misdirection if he was performing magic with another part of his body!
On another note, Michael Ammar performs Hofzinsers All Backs as a 'hypnosis' effect (and then snaps his fingers to return the cards to normal). The snapping finger seemed totally appropriate for the patter, and really aided the timing. Now, back to the video. Lynn |

If one is playing a magician then I think that the magic gestures ought to convey to the audience the idea that it is the will of magician alone that is causing the effects to happen. Not quite the same but as the maestro conducts music so the magician ought to conducts magic it seems to me.
If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.

Nick:
I watched and I had this hysterical picture of a magician getting the finale of a routine and then....going into the routine you linked as the 'magic gesture' to make the magic happen. By the time the magician is done no one remembers what was supposed to happen! lol Actually, the more I think about the funnier it gets and oddly the more I like it......

If I don't believe I am at cause for my own actions and I live in a culture which does believe in responsibility for consequences - what happens if I snap my fingers and something happens anyway?
...to all the coins I've dropped here
