I miss Toby, how often do we have to re-boot a series?

It's just going to be a CGI extravaganza. "Look what we can do on the computer!"
Remember when they revisited the Lone Ranger w/ Klinton Spilsbury (with James Keach's voice dub)? Now we will get to see Johnny Depp be Tonto on psychedelic mushrooms or loco weed. Some things should just be left alone. JMHO

Fascinating. It does seem extremely soon to be remaking the origin story of Spider-Man.
I'm not as excited about this as I was about Toby McGuire's first one. I'm sort of like, "I've seen that before." Carrie |

Not exactly sure why they had to do a reboot instead of just continuing on with the series with a new actor in the role of Spiderman. I heard they were giving him his web-shooters back instead of him organically being able to produce webbing. But other than that the origin story looks the same so it's kind of a waste of time to go over it all again so soon.
I like the POV scene. though I'm sure it's in there simply for the benefit of the 3D version. Otherwise I doubt they would have gone to the trouble. I'm willinmg to give this one a shot as it can't possibly be as bad as the last Spiderman film. Well actually it can. But let's hope not.

ALthough Tobey did well as Peter, I never felt he looked the part. This guy looks more like Peter should look like IMO.

They are focusing MUCH more on practical effects this time, which is actually why I'm surprised at the inclusion of the cgi pov as the only shot really showcasing the titular character in costume. Though I was very sceptical when I first learnt they were rebooting, I have been thrilled with the casting, and the choice of director. Not a fan of the design changes in the suit, they are largely change for the sake of change, but after watching the trailer, I get the impression everything else will draw me in enough that I'll hardly notice the changes.

I read that the new movie will be based on Ultimate Spiderman. In which case, the plot of this and any sequels should be different enough to distinguish them from the earlier movies.
E.g.: In Ultimate Spiderman, Peter's father is apparently a brilliant biochemist who worked with Nick Fury.

I thought the casting of Toby was definitely going in the right direction. Peter Parker should be meek and unassuming.
Granted his acting was not always best for the role.

He looked and sounded like an ordinary guy. That's what worked for me.

As for Peter's father, can't remember the most recent retcon, but I believe, in the 616 universe, his parents were spies.

If I recall, in the Ultimate universe, they were killed in an early Hulk out when Bruce was initially trying to recreate the Super Soldier serum. I'd have to re-read Ultimate Origins to double check that.

I hope because of this Movie, Cyril Takayama does his web shooter trick again. (Yes, look it up! )
Without camera tricks of course...
