I am working on a new effect with a lot of ways you can go with the presentation.
The theme is pretty cool and you might even decide to make up your own effect based upon it! The number 666 -- the "number of the beast," according to the Book of Revelation -- conjures devilish images for many, so forecasts of evil, even doom, are rampant regarding dates or places where the number occurs, When someone has an unnatural fear of the number 666 they are said to have Hexakosioihexekontahexaphobia. This fear is often the result of believing the number is synonymous with evil and may be a full representation of satanic oppression because the number 666 is to appear at the end of the earth’s existence. Now there is a difference between PHOBIAS and a superstition. A superstition is an irrational belief that an object, action, or circumstance not logically related to a course of events influences its outcome. Some superstition actions are said to bring good luck: such as knocking on wood, crossing your fingers, and so on. Other mistakes are said to bring quite a lot of bad fortune: breaking a mirror, stepping on a crack, and walking under a ladder. Although it has not truly been proven whether these superstitions actually bring luck or vice versa, but it is said by psychologists that these superstitious habits do create a calm environment for the user If you're like most people, you occasionally participate in superstitious thinking or behavior often without even realizing you're doing it. Just think: When was the last time you knocked on wood, walked within the lines, avoided a black cat, or read your daily horoscope? These are all examples of superstitions. More than half of Americans admitted to being at least a little superstitious. Was Stevie Wonder right: When you believe in things that you don't understand, do you suffer? Here we have a dozen and half of the most famous superstitions in the world ranging from saying god bless you to black cats! Did you know that when the great plague swept Europe., sufferers began sneezing violently which was a sign of death. The Pope therefore passed a law requiring people to bless the sneezer. At the same time, it was expected that anybody sneezing would cover their mouth with a cloth or their hand. This was obviously to stop the spreading of the disease, but many believed that it was to keep the soul intact. Sneezing 'into the air' would allow the soul to escape and death would be imminent.. A common superstition in the Middle Ages was that the devil could enter a person during that unguarded moment when that person was sneezing; this could be avoided if anyone present immediately appealed to the name of God. On the other hand, some believe the opposite so those who sneezed were congratulated, as it was believed that a violent sneeze would expel evil from their bodies. The tradition of saying "God bless you" when someone sneezes still remains today! An ancient myth our ancestors believed was that the image in a mirror is our actual soul. A broken mirror represented the soul being astray from your body. To break the spell of misfortune, you must wait seven hours (one for each year of bad luck) before picking up the broken pieces, and bury them outside in the moonlight. Black cats have long been believed to be a supernatural omen since the witch hunts of the middle ages when cats were thought to be connected to evil. Since then, it is considered bad luck if a black cat crosses your path. So why keep a black cat out of your path? Most likely, this superstition arises from old beliefs in witches and their animal familiars, which were often said to take the form of domestic animals like cats. Using the 18 cards, you will have 3 people choose a superstition ( no force) after the cards are dealt into 3 piles of six cards. The cards will be mixed by another spectator and dealt into piles by them. After eliminating the top cards in each just in case the spectators think they are marked like the beast, the selections will be made. The piles all combined then you will then mix into two piles, good luck or bad luck until the spectator is happy. Under these conditions, you will determine all 3. This effect is all mathematically based. No sleight of hand so it will be a mental magic effect NOT mentalism. Have fun thinking about if you are superstitious! |

Effect aside... you really must consider a name change! If you're like most people - you will refrain from reviewing this because you just don’t want to type that name, let alone try to actually SAY it in a video review!! Otherwise sounds like it could be interesting. Looking forward to more info as it's developed!
Thanks! Jim |
