If you are using the 'Tony Clark Gloves to Streamers' it would be hard putting the streamer round your neck - just the way it works.
Possibly have to do a dove pocket vanish for the gloves in a tossing motion. Sounds excellent though! |

Just a side note here. When I develop ideas for acts or routines, I have learned long ago never to dwell or worry too much about technical methods on how it can be accomplished. This only hinders your free thinking and starts to limit creativity. There are always ways to get things to work. The harder part is coming up with the ideas.
Yes, I was referring to the Tony Clark gloves to streamer. However, I think you could modify it by velcroing the streamer to the gloves. This way the streamer can be detached easily and the gloves ditched into a tails pocket. This would work nicely since he would be wearing tails any ways if he was in the 20's style character that he mentioned. Overall, I think it is starting to form a fluid and creative act that that is based around a strong plot and theme.

Okay, Kyle.
Vanishing and/or appearing cane would work great in this act too! Maybe closer to the end, before you leave you pick up your cane, tap it on the ground and it vanishes. Possibly have it reappear somewhere else a few minutes later. Just a suggestion, Kevin |

A nice idea would be to walk on and produce the cane. Then you place the cane behind a table etc. while you do the main part of the act. Then at the end, you pick up the cane (different cane) and vanish it ending up with a silk that you place into your top pocket. Could be a nice way to make the act come "full circle". I like that idea Kevin. Thanks for sharing it with us.

That would be a nice idea. You eventually get ready, straighten your tie in the mirror, pick up your cane and twirl it and it vanishes between your hands.
Has anyone came up with any ideas for a strong finale? I'm still thinking for you Kevin |

It is amazing what you can come up with if you open yourself up to creativity and to really exploring things that may not be magical in themselves. It is also great how a good group of magic friends can brainstorm together to come up with ideas that one person alone could never do. I look forward to hearing about your act as you progress with it. Have fun with it but most of all, keep it entertaining and not just magical. =)

If you want to do some manips with your gloves still on, you could do the good ol' colour changing gloves. I.E. notice one glove is black and one is white, so change the black one into a white one and you have two the same.
Just something else that you can consider. Perhaps you can then notice that you've forgotten your pocket handkerchief. So you fold up the gloves, throw them up, and then they fly into your top jacket pocket to act as your pocket handkerchief. I remember reading something like this in some old Fukai lecture notes. |

Maylor:
All good stuff here. The color changing gloves would be a nice add in. Maybe what he does is sees the gloves are different color. He then decides he had better check his socks out as well. He holds up one pant leg and the sock is black, he lifts up the other pant leg and it is white. He then looks at the glove and the gloves are now right. He then lifts up the pant leg and the sock has also changed to the right color. This way it leads you to a double color change which would be both different as well as entertaining to watch. I have been searching for methods on how to do color changing gloves and to see what methods work the best. If anyone has any references or resopurces on color changing glove methods, please PM me. I would love to look into this as well, and do some research on it. Thanks in advanced. Zombie: How is your act ideas coming along?

If I hear from anyone concerning methods or information regarding color changing gloves, I will see that you get the information. I may even start a new post for this if I start hearing from anyone. This is an effect I have seen done and always felt it looked quite striking.

I was reading an old magic book the other day, it was by Dunninger I think. The method for the colour change was in there. I can't remember it exactly but I have a vague idea. I'll have a think about it some more and PM you.
I can't look at the book again as it was in Spain. |

Yes, please PM me with any information that you remember from what you read. Even a little bit of information is certainly a start for me and would be a big help. I want to try and gather resources and information on this effect so as I may be able to use it in my own acts and shows. Thanks in advance.

With the colour changing gloves, is the effect preformed with the gloves on the hand? I always wanted to work with a different colour than white for my productions and it would be great to use a colour change to get the different colour. Also, it would be great to make the change and keep your stock in your hands. That is what I will be looking for.
Thanks kyle |

You will then need to do what I am doing now. That is experimenting with gloves and with certain moves. I have gloves in black, white and yellow and I am working on a move where I can do an instant color change of a billard ball by simply touching the white ball with the yellow glove. This is sort of a midas touch idea but looks really cool. The white ball instantly turns into a yellow billard ball. I can also reverse it just as easily. If you PM me I can tell you my technique for this. It is rather simple but came to me last week when I was messing around with things. It opens me to a lot of new color changing ideas. My idea with the color changing gloves is to be able to have a glove on, color change the glove to a new color and then be able to touch the ball and have the ball change colors as well to match the glove color. This would lead me into a really nice color change billard ball routine. But not only do the balls change, but the gloves change as well. With that said, I am looking for methods and techniques for the color changing gloves. If anyone has seen this written up or has tried it themselves, please PM me. DJ: The best bet is to just get some gloves and start working with them. Get used to working with them on and play around with it some. If I get any suggestions for the color change, I will let you know.

Thanks again Kyle,
I don't work with billiard balls but you are so kind for offering something like that. It is hard to think up such things. Thanks. |

My mind never stops it seems. I guess being involved in youth in magic programs with the SYM, keeps me constantly creative. I am always helping the kids come up with acts. I think the color changing gloves could still work for you just as an idea alone not even using the billiard balls at all. I think it is strong enough by itself. What do you think?
