Colleagues,
Last year, the very clever Thomas Heine and Rainer Mees at ParaLabs offered their wonderful Secret Impressions book and donated all the proceeds to two very worthwhile international mental health charities, BasicNeeds and Terre des Hommes. I thought others would continue the charitable trend (and perhaps they have and I've missed it), but to keep the ball rolling, I would like to make the following offer: Last year, I published a trilogy of manuscripts (they also came in "kit" versions) on what I called the S-F Synergy. They were produced in very limited quantities and were sold only to a select few. The first two manuscripts, The Sub Rosa Book Test and The Thought Reader's Secret Weapon are no longer available. However, I still have a couple dozen of the third monograph, Little Nicky & Other Oddities, which were originally sold for $49 for the 65-page manuscript (with photographic illustrations) and $79 for the "kit" version. Little Nicky is a strange, but wonderful routine relying on a unique method and employing a very entertaining "prop" from the old Twilight Zone classic TV show. The manuscript also contains several other very commercial and unique ideas, including an X-Ray Vision presentation and a Triple Influence (Prediction) routine for those who possess one of Promystic's fabulous MD devices. What I propose is to offer my remaining Little Nicky manuscripts to those who make a $25 contribution to the charity of their choice and, upon confirmation (we're on the honor system here), reduce the sale price by an equivalent amount. (I have always donated any amounts I receive for my manuscripts to charity, but that is neither here nor there.) Those who wish to be part of this "U.S. Mentalism Charity Project" should do the following: Write me at chrismattx@gmail.com and let me know you want to be part of this project. As part of the process, you will let me know know what charity (or charities) you will make a $25 contribution to. I will then send you my PayPal address for you to send me the balance ($24 plus postage and handling charge: $5 postage for USPS First Class or Media Mail mail; $8 via Priority USPS Mail). Upon verification from you that you have donated your $25 (I will trust your word on this) and that you have sent the balance via PayPal, I will send you my Little Nicky & Other Oddities manuscript. This offer will end when I run out of manuscripts. (Sorry, but I no longer have any of the kit versions available.) Please write to me at my e-mail address only if you are very interested in this offer. Further details can be provided if you contact me there. Again, my e-mail address is: chrismattx@gmail.com I hope this idea catches on and we all get in a charitable spirit, especially in these very difficult times. Thank you! CM

Several have written me expressing interest, but wanted to know more about Little Nicky & Other Oddities. That's a very fair question and I am posting here for those who would like additional information. The following is from the introduction of the Little Nicky routine:
Quote:
As a very young child, I used to enjoy watching episodes of the iconic television show, The Twilight Zone. Two episodes in particular captured my childish imagination. (Coincidentally, both episodes happened to star an actor who would later achieve T.V. Science Fiction legendary status: William Shatner!) One of those episodes was called Nick of Time. The story was about a very superstitious newlywed (Shatner), who begins to let a novelty “fortune-telling” napkin dispenser at a roadside diner take over his and his bride’s lives. For a penny, the “Mystic Seer” provides simple “stock” answers, like fortune cookies, to whatever Yes or No question is asked about the future. In the The Twilight Zone world, however, the predictions made by this spooky prognosticator actually come true! I then go on to describe how to make an almost exact replica of the Mystic Seer fortune-telling napkin dispenser shown in the The Twilight Zone episode--made very inexpensively, with materials readily and inexpensively available (I made mine for less than $20). In the "kit" version, I even included labels (I'll include those to the first few who order, although you can easily make your own if you have a computer printer). In the Little Nicky routine, the Spectator asks the Mystic Seer several "Yes" or "No" questions (she can ask any question) and, just like in the The Twilight Zone episode, the Mystic Seer produces a printed fortune card that gives an uncannily accurate answer. Finally, the Spectator just thinks of her most important question about the future (she doesn't even have to ask it out loud), and the Mystic Seer provides such an uncannily accurate answer that there can be NO DOUBT that something very strange and almost Satanic is going on! Your Audience (and the Spectator) will have NO CLUE how the "little devil" is reading your Spectator's mind and foretelling the future! In the course of the description of how to present this entertaining, mystifying, and perhaps even disturbing routine, you will learn all the details of one of the most devious devices ever invented for reading the mind of a Spectator--a device that has such wide application that it can replace all the various Imp Pads, clipboards and other methods for Information Retrieval traditionally employed. The monograph also describes many other routines and ideas, including a unique "X-ray Vision" effect that could easily be presented as Remote Viewing, a "Triple Influence" (Prediction) routine that is light years beyond most other such routines (with an ingenious "Last Card" effect that could easily be adapted into a totally baffling, but almost self-working, presentation of Guy Hollingworth's "The Cassandra Quandary") and many other ideas that will be "springboards" for your own creativity! For example, the methods described in Little Nicky and the other works in the trilogy could be effectively employed in almost every routine in the recent ParaLabs book, Secret Impressions! This manuscript was available last year only to purchasers of the first two monographs in the trilogy, The Sub Rosa Book Test and The Thought Reader's Secret Weapon. It sold for $49 (for just the manuscript) or $79 (for the "kit" version, which contained the manuscript and the necessary materials). While I no longer offer the kit version, the monograph describes where you can easily and inexpensively obtain ALL the necessary materials. If you have any questions or would like to make a contribution and get one of the few remaining copies of Little Nicky & Other Oddities, please contact me at: chrismattx@gmail.com Thanks, CM
