Hello Everybody,
While I'm not exactly "new" to magic, I was wondering if anyone has any insight on what may be a wise investment for tutorials on card manipulations and sleights. I'm looking for multiple card production from back palm position, and such. I know McBride has a DVD series out, but what would you all recommend? Thank you for your input. Eric Woods |

Though I've never read it (I'm not really a card guy, at least not yet), you'll probably get a lot of recommendations for "The Royal Road to Card Magic." It seems to be the go-to guide, if I'm not mistaken.

My personal favorite is the Card College series, but also Royal Road and Harry Lorraine's books.

Go to my fairly new magic website, Eric - 3rd one listed under this post - and click on the things you're interested in. But, I'll save you some time - I don't teach "multiple card productions" or back palming, etc. (although you might just find a couple of those in Apocalypse)- I teach impromptu, any deck, card stuff mainly. Check it out, then if you have any questions you can email directly to my personal email address - first address listed under this post. H. LORAYNE (for the record, the correct spelling!)

Jeff Sheridan's well-known for his manipulations as well and he teaches stuff on his Genius At Work DVD set. I'm not sure how good it is. His rope routine (excerpted elsewhere for a compilation DVD) was excellent but the explanations were a chore to work through. Maybe the card manipulations will be better. I don't know how many manipulators hang out in the Newbie area so you might want to go straight to this section and start researching and/or asking your question there. http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewf......73&10935

The McBride series is excellent. I tried for years to figure out back palm productions. Mr. McBride's videos helped a lot.

McBride videos are great. Also, the new Sheridan DVDs on manipulation are good also. It requires practise and it isn't much my cup of tea. Id rather enjoy watching a good card trick instead

Card College is great and I've heard the McBride DVD's are among the best for card manipulation. And now I'm going to save up for Harry's books.
