No photoshopping needed on them. I had 2 print out a lil skinny but the other 6 fit perfectly.

Another issue which I have not seen mentioned is that with the self-printed ones there ends up being a very noticable and ugly crease on each side of the gaff after it's r***ed up. Is there anything to do about that?

That's right - at that price I just bought a few so wouldn't have to worry about gimmick refills or printing anything!

Can't decide! So the spec won't suddenly say "Ahh great, but this isn't a sharpie", by the texture? Love the idea, just don't want that to happen! I haven't heard of this happening yet although I haven't heard of anything going on yet which seems almost too good to be true! Very nice revelation though. Id follow up CHOP with this card routine!

That was what interested me in the routine. I think it has to do with human psychology that when you don't focus their attention on the "sharpie," they don't even register that it looks a little different, feels different, or is a different weight. It just doesn't register, because they are focused somewhere else. At that moment you have everyone's attention focused on the deck and the "ridiculous" claim you make of how you will find a chosen card. They will be scrutinizing your every hand movement so much trying to catch you in the act of sleight of hand that they won't even notice the object you handed them off-handedly is in fact a playing card disguised as a sharpie.
My experience so far has been that no one even notices. In a way, they seem to remember looking back that the "sharpie transformed into my card - in my hand!" Memories can be a little odd, but wonderful thing sometimes that can really enhance the power of our magic. At the $5 cool box price on penguin, I can't urge you enough to at least pick this up and try it. |

Ok I'm a bit confused. Penguin is selling the DVD with two gimmicks for $5 how much is Alakazam selling 4 gimmicks for? I like this effect a lot it just plays well for me... Here are two examples, the second being my favorite of the two.

Took the plunge! I mean, who could pass up Penguin's cool box offer here. Sgtgrey, your videos helped in my decision. I'm convinced I can fry many people with this trick!

Looks pretty good, I was on the fence about this for awhile now but for $5 I might try it.t signed cards magicians who like to over-prove do. Or magicians who fish for secrets asking whether or not a card can be signed. I never had a spectator in 30 years ask me if a card could be signed. Also if you are that wroored that a spectator will spot the pen just hold it yourself and do the trick. It would work and still be pretty strong just not as strong as the spectator holding it. But I think I would just let them hold and it and take the risk, and if they did notice it I would just look confused and tell them that "it was just the pen, something must have changed...open it up!" They do not know what is supposed to happen and will be fried regardless and assume that is how it is supposed to happen. They are not magicians watching videos multiple times and then assuming it will not work. It is all new to them and they have no clue what is coming.
The great trouble with magicians is the fact that they believe when they have bought a certain trick or piece of apparatus, and know the method or procedure, that they are full-fledged mystifiers. -- Harry Houdini

Sirbtad .. good cover up idea. As magicians we must be as adaptable to the situation as humanly possible. It has happened to me once and Sirbad's cover up method go me out of the jam. When the spectator said "ahhh .. like, its not a sharpie", I responded like I just saw a ghost, "WHAT?!?:!?, pulled out my real sharpie and stared at it in amazement and said " well I was going to do another trick but it seems your hands have some magic in them (have you ever been a magician, etc) .. you made them change (transpose) before my very eyes!
Now I don't much like doing it this way but I had no choice and I wasnt severely embarrassed. I would love if people could offer more tips on this issue (spectator catching on)as well as perfecting the gimmick (those annoying lips that they can feel). Thanks |
