The Blue Crown's new download
A coin is placed on the back of your hand. With a gentle rub, it completely vanishes. A moment later, you reproduce it from thin air. Alex Geiser is back, tipping the work on his favorite coin vanish, available exclusively at The Blue Crown. In the Velvet Vanish, Alex teaches you how to make a coin vanish and reappear more smoothly than you ever thought possible, and he does it without gimmicks or sleeves. Alex goes beyond the simple mechanics of the effect, providing a master class in how to turn this from a simple trick into a moment of true magic. The Velvet Vanish can be done surrounded. There are no clothing requirements, no gimmicks, and no filler. Just you, a coin, and your audience. Get it now, only at The Blue Crown. _______________________________________________________ I just downloaded this and the teaching is very thorough! Very easy to do and is within the grasp of anyone who plays with coins. It's a basic vanish then straight up reproduction using sleight of hand, no gimmicks. Fits my style. Have to go run errands. Peace. |

The demo never shows the hands empty after the "vanish". Can you show your hands empty?
Some think Houdini used trap doors in his act, but he was just going through a stage.

Of course you can show your hands empty...you can use a variety of hand washing techniques in-between the vanish and the reproduction with a little improvisation. The point of this download is to teach you a clean coin vanish and reproduction. Use it in any context you want ...it should be up to you to create a routine with these tools!

Hrmmm, these types of things bother me. While I can't be sure as I don't have the product, the method seems pretty apparent. I really see these and things like it (see: Revolution) as teaching a basic, well known sleight, giving it a cool name, the MTV Ellusionist like demo/dvd production and selling it. I mean it'd be like me creating a DVD teaching of a T** C**** and called it "Transformer". Stuff like this is typically presented in a book or DVD teaching tons of sleights, effects and/or routines with it - for $20-30. The way I look at it, anyone who's at least practiced the basics will know this on sight and those that don't are a bit taken advantage due to their ignorance from a value perspective.
Too each their own - I'll be interested to see what a magician worth his salt has to say about this after they've purchased it.

The difference between teaching a top change and this vanish is that the top change is old, and the velvet vanish is new. I have gotten too many PM's from people trying to guess the "apparent" method and no one guessed correctly. And personally, I don't see the point of trying to guess a method. There is so much more that goes into any effect than just the method. What you are really buying is a 20 minute one-on-one with a true sleight of hand expert ... who btw is loved by the likes of Chris Kenner, Paul Vigil, Luke Dancy, Armando Lucero, just to name a few.
All I'm saying is that knowing a method should not be a prerequisite to purchasing something, nor is being fooled. It's about your interest in learning something new...and learning more about magic in general! Thanks Alex^ |

My apologies if it sounded as if I was stating you needed to know the method. That wasn’t even close to the point of the post. What I was trying to convey is that the sleight, to me seems apparent (albeit in a non-traditional way of getting it “in position”). If this is some new slight then I guess it has a bit more validity and wouldn’t be the “taking advantage of” situation mentioned above. That said – for me personally, I’m not sure I’d ever buy a video to learn a single sleight. As noted however, to each their own.

On the other hand I found something I could use every time I perform, which is a lot, so it's worth more than what I bought it for. To each his own, I thought the look of this was great and something I would other than a retention vanish because it happens in a more of a slow manner and that seems to me very deceiving to the eye. |

Right, pending it's actually a new slight. The demo didn't appear to be that to me. As I noted however - if it is, I took back part of what I said. At the end of the day - if you got value out of something, does it matter if someone else thinks otherwise?

Bindside, glad you enjoyed it! I've been performing this every chance I get.
MAKMagic, what factors make something a new sleight? There are only so many ways to palm a coin, but many many ways to get it there. This vanish teaches you a very slick and very clean way to do just that...not saying this is for everyone. Hell, I can't do the reproduction yet, its hard! Just trying to help you out so you don't waste 8 bucks Let's just say that I don't put anything on the site if I don't think its worth it. Alex^ |

Just hope it helped! We've gotten nothing but good feedback from people who have purchased the vanish and played around with it. Can't wait for Alex to put out more stuff...especially his coin vanishes! They are second to none. Here is an interview with him for those who are interested in that kinda stuff, or rather interested in Geiser!
