I have never owned, used, or seen a PK ring but thinking about buying one and figure they are not all the same so I need your help to choose which would work best for my situation. I want something that doesn't look like a magic prop or a wedding band, ideal for street and parlor magic, and durable. Any suggestions from those of you in the know?

The ones that look like wedding bands are the least obvious. I was actually wearing one and a co worker said, "hey you got a new wedding band." Later in the day, I had to use that opportunity to use the ring in a routine. Still fooled him.

I know that probably didn't help much, but I like the unassuming look.

Willie, as Paul stated, the wedding band style is the least conspicuous. Unless you have a ring that you want to have customized. . .

PM'd ya Willie.

There are more and more PK rings being made to look less like wedding bands.

As for which one is most "Ordinary" I think that all depends on what you're doing and how you dress.
Your ring should simply be incidental to whatever is happening just like it is when it truly is ordinary.
When you're doing something that doesn't involve a pk ring, do you worry what your rings look like?

This is just my thinking anyways.

The reason I didn't want a wedding band look was because I'd wear it on my right hand. Most wedding bands go left hand. Perhaps a gimmick high school or college ring would work.

Willie, you may want it slightly larger than what you would normally wear in size.
Cody may have already given you this info in PM !

I once "Lost" a pk ring, only to discover it stuck on the inside of my truck's door toward the bottom a few months later.

Another time, I dropped one over some carpet, and it vanished without a trace...
I searched forever before my wife finally noticed it stuck to my foot (I wear steel toe boots).

Like Garry said, the slightly larger ring size is useful for some which hand effects, eg: the Templar and Relic.

Also, most pk rings finish will fade rather quickly.
A quick coat of clear gloss nail polish will extend its life.

I have seen some before that have designs on them and some that are black in color, but it's been awhile since I looked for them. Still the shape of a wedding band but differentiated by the design or different color. Might be something like that out there still.

Unleash your dreams has been promising wooden PK rings for a while now, Which I'm quite interested in. I've never felt the standard PK rings suited me.

Thanks for the advice. I understand the Votex is a little more durable.

I found one that was designed but couldn't get my size plus imagine it is too brittle to last long. Also have seen the black ones but then again, looks like a prop.
