I've poked around in the forums and found nothing so....
The 'hat-coils' I've found on magicstore sites as well as the hand coils seem to need to be aimed straight down in order to work. What I'm after is a streamer effect where the ribbon can come UP and OVER the rim of the container(from say, 1-3 inches below the rim) before cascading down to the floor. Would a regular hat coil do that? If not, anyone have an idea? And NO, I don't want to use a toilet paper roll!

I've got a Dell Streamer (100' of 1/2 inch ribbon) that works in these settings. It has a weight in the end you throw and then it just keeps going on it's own.

Mardi Gras beads will do this. They are sold on some sites as "cascading beads"

I had a "Dell's ribbon fountain" as a teenager which sounds pretty much the same as the streamer. It was from supreme. You could probably make one if you selected the right kind of ribbon from a craft shop. I think it was all glued together.
It looked pretty but was quite time consuming to set up and also the ribbons needed ironed every other show, I soon got bored of all that. |

Thanks all....I did finally find something that looks promising on Seo. Shimmering rainbow streamer...sold out of course! *sigh* I think I'll take George's advice & just try to make one!

Go to a JoAnne fabric store or a haberdashery store where they sell ribbons of different width and colors.Remove the styrofoam or carboard core, tape a small weight to the inside of the ribbon and you're good to go.
I use satin ribbons and it works for me.

I sell Mylar coils 1" wide and 150" long in a variety of colors. I used them in my act for years. They are very durable and not too bad to rewind up.

Have you checked that they will go over the rim from the wound position? I think if you use Dell's method it will shoot out a lot faster

I've got some (from haresh) and roll it off of a ticket roller I hav e, and it works great...does loose steam quick though because of the 'leap'....I'll have to try & track down some of these dell thingies.
BTW....I'd just like to take a momment to thank all for their help, and comment on just what an incredible resource this forum is! I recently was asked by a seriously aspiring young magician's father about ways to help get started, and I gave him 3 websites: the dealer with the lowest prices, the dealer with the biggest selection, and this place. As an example, I showed him on his tablet this post, and how many different ideas and suggestions had arrived so quickly.
