This is all rather frightening. I fully support defending oneself, but not retaliation. More violence is rarely, if ever the answer.
It's amazing, people will criticize you for "biting the hand that feeds you," while they're busy praising the hand that beats them.

The news showed a Muslim kid get beaten and then have his stuff stolen by some scumbags pretending to help him. There really is no excuse for that sort of pathetic crap.

Is targeting Muslims any worse than targeting any other group? Is it worse than targeting someone because they have money or someone because they have a business? It seems like there really is no excuse for any of the pathetic crap going on over there.

There are as many reasons as rioters but no excuses. Least I have not heard one say excuse me while I riot.

I wasn't saying it's just because they targeted Muslims, what I'm saying is that the cowardly tactics of hit and run driving and pretending to help someone while they take crap out of his backpack are cowardly and disgusting.
It's not which group is targeted at all, it's the targeting itself and the chickencrap tactics they are using to do it.
I didn't like it when the Korean business owners were targeted in LA either.
If you want to prove something then stand and fight for it, don't throw a sucker punch and run.

This has nothing to do with religion, race or creed. It is plain and simple as scrotes getting away with stealing and thinking they are above the law. The London protests at first were about the shooting of Duggan but then turned into looting which other people saw it as 'if they can get away with it then I can'.

There are also people saying on the radio that they went down to have a look but weren't looting. Those people in my eyes are just as bad as this promotes the looters to play to an audience. I know in an ideal world I would have liked the media not even to report on these situtations. There should be zero tolerance with these people and people shouldn't be blaming the goverment for all this. Certain people need to look at themselves and their ability to parent.

Rant over back to my Mutobe palm practice - - cheers

Sorry to be a bit overbearing here, but I'm not sure what news outlets you've (not) been reading. There has been extensive rioting throughout Europe in the last six months over the widespread austerity cuts.

Yes there has been some but it's not quite the same as what's hapening in this case. They has been a lot or rioting in the Middle East as well. I don't think either this situation or the Middle East had to do with austerity cuts.

The riots in Spain and Greece were specifically about the austerity cuts. The riots in the Middle east started in Tunisia specifically around the issue of young people not being able to get jobs. Remember the young man that set fire to himself? Then it spread to Egypt where many of the same issues as well as others were present.

The riots in England are not about the austerity cuts, nor were they caused by the austerity cuts. The conditions that the austerity cuts impose and create for the foreseeable future for the upcoming generation certainly are, however, one factor that created a context and climate for this to happen.

And by the way, people better get used to austerity cuts all over the place.

Just as people should get used to rioting like this all over the place. As I'm sure preparations are being made by the authorities as we speak.

That kid is from my country, Malaysia.

His attack is making HUGE WAVES here in the news.

Sad state of affairs this, good thing he is recovering well though...

Small item on the news yesterday evening about a black youth allegedly taunting Sikhs guarding their temple who was dragged out of his car and suffered "horrific" injuries. Has the atmosphere of a powder keg methinks, hope it can be defused.

What they need to do is get a soccer game going, wait for all of the rioters to show up there, and then lock them in the stadium to sort each other out.

They could have done a couple of days ago, but they cancelled the match at Wembley.

I don't think the fact that he was muslim had anything to do with it. I've seen that clip all over the place and never once heard that mentioned. Was this said on the news were you are?

Yeah that's what they said on the news. They mentioned the other Muslims who had been run over by cars in connection with this attack. The news here was pretty specific.

Would probably be as effective as banning gang colours.

The number of police officers here is over 136000.

About how many rioters do you think there were?
