What was your first car and how did you get it?
My first car was a dark olive green '69 Pontiac Catalina with a big 400 engine and an even bigger back seat that came in handy. It was a boat, but boy could it roar. It also ate a lot of gas, but at least it was cheap then. It belonged to my uncle. When he died, I bought it off my aunt for $500 because she didn't know how to drive. Got it Junior year in High school.

My first car was a 'Vette.
A Chevy Chevette that is. I don't even know what model year it was, maybe 1980? It was my moms car and I got it when she got a new one. My first vehicle however was a Yamaha DT125 motorcycle. Bought it for 400 bucks off a friend. I rode that thing everywhere. |

I'm not real sure of the year, but I think it was a 73 Olds Vista Cruiser staion wagon. Bought it for $250.00
Plenty of windows in that thing. It was just about like the one the 70's show. When it rained it always would have a drip coming off of the rear view mirror. I must of went through 10 tubes of silicone trying to stop the leak. I never did get it stopped. One day a guy ran a red light, hit me and totaled the car out. Bob. |

Well I learned to drive on a big blue tractor.
My first actual automobile was a 1948 Dodge pickup truck that my grandfather sold me for $300. I still have it and always will.

A 1971 VW Super Beetle which my parents bought for me after I graduated from high school. Paid $2,300 for it, brand new. I had that car all through college and grad school, and right into my first job. I had so much fun in that car it was pitiful -- wish I still had it.

A 1978 AMC Concord. My mother owned it and absolutely hated it, so she let me have it before I started my sophomore year in college in 1982. I shipped it to LA and drove it to Tidewater, VA in something like 70 hours.
Terrible, terrible car. Every now and then I still have a nightmare where I'm driving that car, and I need to brake but I'm using both feet on the brakes and pushing as hard as I can but am hardly slowing down. That' about how it really was, too. |

'56' Chevy Belair was my first car. Given to me by a good Friend of mine who just purchased a brand new '69' V.W. Bug.
Wish I had this car today. Everything was in tip-top condition, not a dent in the body. Iven

1961 or 62 Simca. 4 speed on the colum. Also had timed turn signals...when you used them they shut off after so many seconds whether you made a turn or not. Radio and heater all the goodies, ha, ha.

1958 Simca Chambord bought in 1960 and it was around and running until the mid 90's (over 300,000 miles on it) before it was put it to pasture). Looked a bit like a mini 57 Chevy.

If I recall correctly, Simca partnered with Maserati to make some race cars.
