Stanyon,

Isn't "retro" what we call the yard sale stuff?

Retro only counts if you got it at twice the price you paid for it the first time. and yes I have taken great pains to get rid of the top hats dragons and bad decals.
Believe you then that I do strange things

Mike,

DoveLite Silk just dropped importing it's 18" dragon silk. Unless the act works in costume, small dragons are a collector's item. (Think RETRO and double your money!)

Now let's sell some Magicians' Rope and quit calling it cotton clothes line. (The world of RETRO doesn't know what a cloths line is anyway. Besides, that's only three cents a foot NOW! Magic must be expensive to be real, if you are not a millionaire.)

Maybe if we put pictures of Ipods on our underwear? LOL

Another thought on tables. Was just at a trade show and saw a magician performing with what I thought was a pretty elegant, lightweight solution. It was a projector stand with telescoping legs. Under the main platform was an accessory shelf. The entire thing was draped in attractive pleated black draping. It was raised to a height of about 42 inches. He stood on a small 12" riser. The whole thing fit into a modest sized travel case, and had room for small props, an Anchor powered monitor, cables, etc.

I've done some research and am able to put the same set up together for about $325. (without the travel case, speaker, or riser)

Anyone else tried something like this? It seems like a great way to go.

Bronx,

Check out music stores for hardware from used drum sets. Many of the stands and bases are very good. Used they are nearly worthless. You can get a great deal.

Mandrake01,

If you really want to worry, I spent part of the 60s in Newport, Rhode Island!

I spent a lot of it in California, but I came back in '67.

I know it's completely impractical, but to a degree, I miss the old Jamestown Ferry.

The Jamestown Ferry was good for a song!

I've never heard one for the way to my house. Some how "going down to County Road 478" just isn't artsy!

I don't know "Leo's Last Stop." I led a sheltered life.

Leo's Last Stop was an off-limits to sailors water-front bar. The US government isn't the outfit reinvesting taxpayer dollars! Looks like the results were the same.

Don't knock a "sheltered life".

I have 2 tables from music stores as mentioned by Bob,they are great for my corporate show that I travel all over,
the cases are used for everything, fits for ease of set up & travel at airports etc..

Has anyone considered making a table out of a commercial speaker stand? Speaker stands are designed to be sturdy, portable, support a lot of weight and be height adjustable. Adding a tabletop shouldn’t be a large chore.

I believe I’ve just found a new project.

For my home (and I also take it to the clubs I belong to) I have a Magic Castle style table, custom made for me.
