Anyone buy this book? Seems like a lot of dough to learn palming, but I'm relatively new so it's intriguing. Just wondering if its worth the $$ due to their teaching methods or if its all rehashed stuff that could easily be found elsewhere.

This book comes with limited edition octopus deck.... kind of a "limited" things from bucks brothers.... I think lately there are so many "things" like this on the market. it's not something new, just a something of "repackage", it's like a new trend. I don't think I need this....

Just got this out of collecting/interest since I have my own work on this kind of subject.
One downside to this book though is that it DOESN'T fit on my shelf. It's too tall to place on my shelf. Bigger than AoA and Paul Curry's Worlds Beyond. I flipped through it 15 minutes before I went off to work. Luckily nothing really close to my work on this subject so it's new material to ponder on about. This is something more-so for somebody who wants to be inspired about this kind of work and maybe create something different. I can see myself using a few things, if you are somewhat of a move-monky I think you'll take a liking. It's limited to 500 copies..and I think you guys know how much I love limited edition items, I love doing things that nobody does. I,e. Mentalism Reveals vol 1, This Way Up, Alain Nu's Pyscho-chronetic time, Neal Scyrer's little white/black book series, Martin Joyal's Six hour mem-deck, so on and so forth. |

Are the palms practical for a walk around magician?

I've bought the book, read through it and enjoyed it tremendously.
It's not a beginner's book, nor is it for the dilettante. There's thoughtful work on Miller's Cascade, the Diagonal Palm Shift and a couple of really original ideas. Some of the material would be extraordinarily practical for the walk-around magician. It's a darned fine magic book. I found the write-ups humble and pensive. It was like Dave was sitting down with me and sharing some awesome ideas he'd come up with over the years. The entire tone of the book is well summed up by David's introduction. "I consider myself an artist, not a performer. Although I love showing people tricks and watching their reactions, for me, magic is about ideas and creating. " Modesty, a self-effacing style and dynamite magical ideas are the core of this work. I found the writing style incredibly refreshing. The love of magic pervades this work. Respect approaching adulation for those that came before him are the hallmarks of the true artist. You won't find this attitude or depth of detail in a video. You'll never see anything like this from most purveyors of magical stuff. This book was written by a true student of the art. The book is a love-letter to magic. Kent |

Cover art looks great. Those guys have real style.

Kent,
Your commentary is beautiful. Thank you.

Heck No! I opened up mine, want to feel those cards. Then I put them away with all the others.

Is there any truth in the rumour that this book is to be updated and re-released this summer?
I understand that Jonathan Burton has drawn a beautiful new cover and accompanying deck... |
