I do not have this effect but it is on my "to get list".
My buddy Ray Lum, says it KILLS! I can see a LOT of "running gag" value in this effect.
Gary, basically it is a large Sponge on a tray and you can wipe your brow, during times of stress, and wring out a bunch of water into a small pail, then go back to it again and do the same at another time during your routine. The sponge continually loads with "sweat".
Go to http://www.hocus-pocus.com and you will find it there.

Chris,
This is only a gag prop...it is only as "good" as your entertainment skills can make it.

It's a great gag. It's well-made, self-working, and will fool audiences.

ah, got you Chance. I use the black towel gag, so I'd probably like this.

Chris,
I re-read my post and it sounded snotty. I did not mean it that way...I was just in a hurry.

If you are looking for a high-tech, diabolical gimmick, DO NOT buy this effect!!! If, on the other hand, you are looking for a terrific running gag, get this right away! Smile

A friend of mine uses this in his childrens show. It always gets a laugh. Great running gag, perfect for all ranges of audiences.

From a practical point of view, each time you use it, you'll need to dry your hands before continuing on with the show. So you'll have to answer the questions of what kind of towel to use, where to keep it and what to say/do while drying.

I have used this in my show for about 4 years. I use it as a running gag throughout the show, but only squeeze out about half of the water. During the last bit in my show, (now The Final Answer...cheap plug) while the guys envelopes are burning, I walk over to him with the sponge and lightly tap his head. I then wring out the whole sponge which is twice as much as they have seen through the whole show.

Highly recommended.

Michael, cool idea! Anybody else have any good bits of business with this? I bought this a long while back but never got around to working it into my show. I thought it would play well for either a kids show or adult show, if played right.

I just didn't want to do it, then do it again later, then do it again later... with no ending. A confetti from the bucket ending might be good, any thoughts?

Man, I thrive on running gags! This sounds perfect! For someone who does not take themself too seriously, and has a talent for comedy, thisd could be heaven-sent!

Sounds like something that clowns could get some use out of also. (No, I'm not a clown, but do have a brother in the circus who is)

Anyway, is it self contained, or do you need a table to reload the water, or whatever the secret is?
The difficult must become easy, the easy beautiful and the beautiful magical.
