Well, landmark, if there is no argument for not restoring the right to vote to felons who have completed their terms, why note restore the right to keep & bear arms?

Not a fan of uncontrolled access to firearms no matter who it is, but having previously fired a gun in a criminal action does not imply that your policy-making skills are dangerous.

1) Employers will add jobs when there is a market for the product the business produces, no matter what the regulations involved.
2) Businesses will add fewer jobs if they perceive they can squeeze more work out of each employee and make each worker do the work of more than one.
3) Despite a lot of rhetoric on both sides (?) the regulatory apparatus in the last 3 years is little changed from the 8 years proceeding it, and arguably even less regulatory.
4) Profits are booming. That is the engine of a capitalist economy.
5) Free trade agreements have made it vastly cheaper to offshore work that once was done by Americans. We are now in the race to the bottom.
6) The claim for capitalists keeping the wealth in a business is that they took the risk. To seek a guarantee of success that privatizes profit while socializing the risk onto the public (bailouts, favorable legislation, tax breaks, etc., is entitlement.

Agenda 21 is the Agenda for the 21st Century.
If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.

Landmark, you say you're not for uncontrolled access to firearms, then we should be restricting government access just as much, yes?

...

How can you say this with a straight face?
And the lemonade stand has everything to do with it, as they can't hire people if they can't even start the business in the first place, because a group of people backing their actions with guns claim ultimate authority to bestow "permission" for what you do with your body and property.
In other words, a claim of ownership.
It's amazing, people will criticize you for "biting the hand that feeds you," while they're busy praising the hand that beats them.

The proof of the pudding is that employers are not hiring, entrepreneurs are not starting and growing businesses, and companies are sitting on tons of cash. There is too much uncertainty, most of it is related to the class-war folk-marxism that is being promoted at the highest levels of government.

I remember a big hubub a couple decades ago that was funny to me. A guy was a bulldozer driver and they had to let him go. BAM drug test turned out he had marijuana in his system bamo fired! There ya go.

Thing is that the guy had a medical condition that he needed it. He had glaucoma and this was his perscription.

Here I am thinking, ok don't fire him because of smoking pot FIRE HIM BECAUSE HE DRIVES A BULLDOZER AND HAS GLAUCOMA! Ok sorry go back to your already stated positions and keep arguing. (I havn't read the whole thread. If someone already mentioned this, ignore it.)

That employers are not hiring is not proof of the reasons why they are not hiring. It could well be they are not hiring because of any of the reasons I have enumerated above.

Yea they are not hiring. In the end though to the people not being hired does it matter why?

You can defend your vote in the president all you like and wear all the blinders you care to and never wake up to what is going on. No problem. Hopefully enough see.

Speculation out there that employers _might_ have something soon to cheer ... another tax holiday.

Who are you talking to here? Looks like Landmark, but he's on the short list of people here who are the most critical of Obama.

Lobo, Danny sees Obama worship in everything. It's all he ever posts about.

Are you still talking about landmark? He's north of the border? Based on some of his recent posts, I thought he lived in the NYC area.

The Speaker of the House is going to invite some job-creators as his guests to attend the President's speech tonight. Their descriptions on the Speaker's website illustrate the issues we are discussing:

Quote:
Spencer Weitman is the President of National Cement, which recently suspended construction of a new $350 million cement kiln in Ragland, AL due to regulatory obstacles. The construction project would have created more than 1,500 construction jobs and 20 new full-time operational positions, but was determined too costly and unpredictable because of proposed changes to EPA Clean Air Act regulations.

Rock Katschnig is a corn and soybean farmer of 32 years from Prophetstown, IL. Hurt by a stream of harmful federal regulations, Katschnig appealed to President Obama at an Atkinson, IL town hall last month, pleading, “Please don't challenge us with more rules and regulations from Washington D.C. that hinder us.”

Eric Treiber is the CEO of Chicago White Metal Casting, a third-generation family-owned die casting company employing 250 workers in suburban Chicago. Jobs at White Metal Casting are being threatened by increased costs associated with excessive federal regulations, in particular Clean Air Act and utility MACT regulations.

Lisa Ingram is the COO of White Castle, a 90-year old family-run company that serves signature “slider” hamburgers. Excessive federal regulations – current and proposed – have put a strain on White Castle, contributing to a plant closure in New Jersey and slowing the company’s ability to create new jobs.

Ignacio Urrabazo is president of Commerce Bank of Laredo, Texas, a small community bank with $450 million in assets. Urrabazo would like to lend more money to local businesses to help create more jobs in Laredo, a border community with an unemployment rate nearly 10 percent higher than the state of Texas as a whole. Unfortunately, current FDIC regulations have kept him from lending to qualified businesses.

Chris George is the CEO of CMG Finance, a mortgage company in the San Francisco Bay area employing 370 people. Hurt by increased health care costs and higher taxes from the new health care law, CMG Finance says the uncertain business environment created by the Obama Administration is preventing them from hiring an additional 15 to 20 workers.

Gordon Logan is CEO of Sport Clips, a hair salon chain with over 800 stores. If not for the environment of uncertainty created by Washington, Logan estimates he would have opened 50-100 new stores over the past three years. Instead of hiring new workers, Sports Clips franchise owners are struggling with the new health care law’s burdensome costs and mandates, and considering canceling existing health coverage for current employees.

And:

Quote:
Henry Juszkiewicz is CEO of the Gibson Guitar Company. Armed federal agents have twice raided Gibson Guitar’s facilities. Why? Unelected Washington bureaucrats won’t say. No charges have been filed and federal regulators have not explained to the company what may have been done wrong or how to rectify the situation.

Don't forget to mention that Henry Juszkiewicz is a Republican supporter (though he has donated to both parties, apparently he gives much more to the GOP) whereas his competitors are apparently Democrats. I read that on Fox so it must be relevant and the direct cause of Gibson's problems, I am sure.

ALSO:

WASHINGTON -- Gibson Guitar CEO Henry Juszkiewicz will be U.S. Rep. Marsha Blackburn's guest at President Barack Obama's speech on job creation tonight to a joint session of Congress, her office announced Wednesday.

According to Federal Election Commission records, Juszkiewicz has not contributed to Blackburn's re-election efforts in recent years. But he has contributed $20,000 in the past six years to the Consumer Electronics Association PAC, including $5,000 in January 2010. The Consumer Electronics Association PAC gave Marsha Blackburn's campaign committee $4,000 on June 3 of this year.
