1) Employers will add jobs when there is a market for the product the business produces, no matter what the regulations involved.
2) Businesses will add fewer jobs if they perceive they can squeeze more work out of each employee and make each worker do the work of more than one. 3) Despite a lot of rhetoric on both sides (?) the regulatory apparatus in the last 3 years is little changed from the 8 years proceeding it, and arguably even less regulatory. 4) Profits are booming. That is the engine of a capitalist economy. 5) Free trade agreements have made it vastly cheaper to offshore work that once was done by Americans. We are now in the race to the bottom. 6) The claim for capitalists keeping the wealth in a business is that they took the risk. To seek a guarantee of success that privatizes profit while socializing the risk onto the public (bailouts, favorable legislation, tax breaks, etc., is entitlement.

Agenda 21 is the Agenda for the 21st Century.
If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.

Landmark, you say you're not for uncontrolled access to firearms, then we should be restricting government access just as much, yes?

In other words, a claim of ownership.

The proof of the pudding is that employers are not hiring, entrepreneurs are not starting and growing businesses, and companies are sitting on tons of cash. There is too much uncertainty, most of it is related to the class-war folk-marxism that is being promoted at the highest levels of government.

I remember a big hubub a couple decades ago that was funny to me. A guy was a bulldozer driver and they had to let him go. BAM drug test turned out he had marijuana in his system bamo fired! There ya go.
Thing is that the guy had a medical condition that he needed it. He had glaucoma and this was his perscription. Here I am thinking, ok don't fire him because of smoking pot FIRE HIM BECAUSE HE DRIVES A BULLDOZER AND HAS GLAUCOMA! Ok sorry go back to your already stated positions and keep arguing. (I havn't read the whole thread. If someone already mentioned this, ignore it.)

Yea they are not hiring. In the end though to the people not being hired does it matter why?
You can defend your vote in the president all you like and wear all the blinders you care to and never wake up to what is going on. No problem. Hopefully enough see.

Speculation out there that employers _might_ have something soon to cheer ... another tax holiday.

The Speaker of the House is going to invite some job-creators as his guests to attend the President's speech tonight. Their descriptions on the Speaker's website illustrate the issues we are discussing:
Quote:
Spencer Weitman is the President of National Cement, which recently suspended construction of a new $350 million cement kiln in Ragland, AL due to regulatory obstacles. The construction project would have created more than 1,500 construction jobs and 20 new full-time operational positions, but was determined too costly and unpredictable because of proposed changes to EPA Clean Air Act regulations. And: Quote:
Henry Juszkiewicz is CEO of the Gibson Guitar Company. Armed federal agents have twice raided Gibson Guitar’s facilities. Why? Unelected Washington bureaucrats won’t say. No charges have been filed and federal regulators have not explained to the company what may have been done wrong or how to rectify the situation. |

Don't forget to mention that Henry Juszkiewicz is a Republican supporter (though he has donated to both parties, apparently he gives much more to the GOP) whereas his competitors are apparently Democrats. I read that on Fox so it must be relevant and the direct cause of Gibson's problems, I am sure.
ALSO: WASHINGTON -- Gibson Guitar CEO Henry Juszkiewicz will be U.S. Rep. Marsha Blackburn's guest at President Barack Obama's speech on job creation tonight to a joint session of Congress, her office announced Wednesday. According to Federal Election Commission records, Juszkiewicz has not contributed to Blackburn's re-election efforts in recent years. But he has contributed $20,000 in the past six years to the Consumer Electronics Association PAC, including $5,000 in January 2010. The Consumer Electronics Association PAC gave Marsha Blackburn's campaign committee $4,000 on June 3 of this year.
