Yes, the cards can be shuffled and you truly don't know the order of the deck.

Interesting not that Devin is offering an update to allow the spectator to shuffle the deck,
another 2 deck ACAAN on the market has started offering the same. |

Why is it that magicians make ambiguious statements even after owning the ebook ??
Statements are being made that the spectator shuffles the deck.. this is incorrect in terms of wording .. If you read the statement as passing the deck to be shuffled by the spectator , this is not so. The spectator may have a memory later of shuffling the deck ..the Café is for magicians not laymen.. If you can't make a statement that does not give the method away, then say nothing rather than mix in what the laymen will perceive. Andy |

In Devins update, the spectator does get to shuffle cards.

The dispute is about: deck (as in whole deck) versus cards (some cards).

People have been asking where to order this, the PDF comes with the addendum on how to shuffle.

I did get my copy of the ebook, and there is indeed the possibility of some shuffling on the part of the magician AND the spectator.
But I still believe that either that or a false shuffle is necessary for the effect to be deceptive. Devin says this is not the case, but honestly, I'd be a little scared to try the basic version on actual spectators... I'll have to go out there and work it in the real world, and then come back with a report! |

I got the updated instructions regarding shuffling. And YES- the spec can shuffle part of the deck as much as they want. How Devin structures the routine makes perfect sense and I believe will be very convincing. As Gorecki stated, I will have to try it out in the real world, but I really think this is going to blow em' away.

I received the updated shuffling procedure via PM as well. Looks like it will definitely help throw people off the trail of what is actually happening, particularly since the spectator can shuffle part of the deck. There are other options, of course, if you are good with false shuffles and/or DS's. But Devin's revised procedure is definitely an improvement on the original, and one I'll probably try for real.

Okay, I don't get it. I have several ACAAN effects that I have learned over the years. I do not recall people getting so riled up about shuffling the cards. None of the routines that I know of allows the cards to be shuffled unless there is a deck switch.
Devin now has one that allows shuffling and they're those that are not happy. Perhaps you can tell me which ACAAN effect that allows complete shuffling of the deck. There may be one out there so please let us know which ones they are. If there is, I'll stand corrected. Using stooges don't count. -Ron |

I think the shuffling issue is a complete different deal whether you show an one- or two-deck ACAAN!
As stated elsewhere, shuffling in 1-deck version kills the premise, but since the 2-deck version employs one deck for selection purposes a shuffling sequence makes perfectly sense.

There is only one that allows for a complete shuffled deck and NO deck sw***H, and NO stooges! I am tipping it here on the Café for the very first time. It is called TDLACAAN! Now those in the know know what that stands for. However I realize there may be some newer mentalists here so please pardon me for saying what that stands for---It stands for The Dumb Luck Any Card At Any Number! I've never had this work for me personally but I have been told that when it does watch out! And if a camera is rolling you are an instant hit on YouTube! It's easy to do and resets instantly! You just have the spec name any card (no force here folks!) then have them mix the cards (No false shuffle) then ask any other person to name any number (truly ANY number) then have them count the cards (and hope like heck it matches!) If it does BINGO a meracle---if it doesn't match the card (This will happen a lot) do your best "Ok who putts around with my cards" voice and move to the next effect. Hey if nothing else you get a laugh!
Please don't thank me it's late and I've already cracked myself up enough writing this! Good magic to all, Eric |

If you are looking for ACAAN that holds to EVERYTHING you posted above it does NOT exist. I will save you the time. There are three things you list in your post. Good luck finding one that meets your criteria. That is the Holy Grail you here spoken of here. That would be the TDLACAAN I joked about above. I have searched high and low for over 25 years and I can tell you ---it ain't out there.

Not to derail this anymore than it's already been derailed but in my two deck Card At Number effect Convergence, the spectator can shuffle the first deck as much as he or she wants.
I don't have this, but knowing some of Devin's other work, even if the method might seem obvious, I'd wager that he's worked in some subtleties which will make it difficult to backtrack for the spectator.
