Due to sudden illness, The Witkowskis, the current owners of Tabman Tables and the Tabman USA line of magic products have reluctantly put the business up for immediate sale. Ray & Debbie Witkowski have asked me to help spread the word that they are in need of selling the business that they purchased several years ago directly from Tabby Crabb, on his retirement. Ray Witkowski was recently diagnosed with ALS - Lou Gehrigs disease, and is now unable to carry on the business. As most know, Tabby Crabb's table designs have become famous over the years as has many of his other props and effects. Many of you know Ray and Debbie through their tight-knit involvement with Youngstown's Ring 2 and Pittsburgh's Assembly 157 - and their long-time involvement helping with The Int'l Battle of Magicians Convention in Canton, Ohio. Whether you are interested in purchasing the business or not - I am certain Ray would really enjoy hearing from any friends and magicians at this time. If anyone would be interested in the possibility of purchasing the Tabman Tables business and all manufacturing rights to the product line - or know of someone who might be - please forward this information to them, and contact Debbie Witkowski: fursclass@magicdmv.com http://www.tabmantables.com

I thought that Ray had known of the ALS for quite a while. We had some great visits at Bob Sanders' place last year. They Witkos are great folks and Ray, like Tabby, does beautiful work!
Things are more like they are today than they've ever been before...

I am not certain when Ray was initially diagnosed. He first informed me this past December, I believe it was. I still consider that "sudden" I suppose, less than a year. He was able to continue building and operating the business over quite a few months after that however it reached a point he can no longer continue the business. Ray and Deb are great people. I hate to see them go thru this. They are good friends... and love magic and the magic community.

You are all great people! The wonderful people are the most magical things about magic.
ClintonMagus, Ray and Debora are making courageous plans to be at the ranch again this year (October 7 & 8) for Magic Valley Magic. We hope to see you all there. http://magicvalleymagic.com/ http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......rt=420#5 Bob |

Perhaps this is a better place to post this. I ordered a table about a week ago before I realized the company was up for sale. Since then I have tried calling and emailing the Witkowskis's without any response. Since it was a substantial investment ($275), I concerned I haven't heard anything about my order or payment. I can't escalate on paypal until the 11th but really just want to know the status and if I can get my money back.
Does anyone know how to reach them, know if they are still fulfilling orders, or what the situation is? I have tried reaching them all week and all I get is their macine and emails go answered. Posted: Feb 10, 2012 5:21pm That should be emails go unanswered. |

I talked with Bob Sanders at MATB and he said Ray was not doing so well. It might be that there is sometime at the hospital.
I would go ahead with the Paypal and send an email to them explaining what you did. Deborah may have more pressing matters to take care of right now. You can always reorder it. I would tell them that in the email. Richard

In regards to orders for things that some maybe waiting for from Tabman Tables. I ordered some very small items from them and I heard from Deborah two days ago asking me a question on my order. So those waiting for orders don't worry you will get what you are waiting for. The Witkowskis's are not out to take anyone's money and run.

Hi Slide,
In addition to Ray's ongoing health issues, The Witkowskis just suffered an unexpected death in the family just this week. This is most probably what is keeping them from checking messages this week. I am sure you will hear from them. They are very good and honest people. I will email them to alert them about your post also.

Ray is not making tables any longer. Not sure of the smaller items, but my guess is that the answer is NO. I ordered a Tabman table last May [2011] and paid in full. My money was refunded in August when Deborah sent a message stating Ray was unable to build the table because of his health.

I'm late to this thread, but does anyone own the rights to the Tabman product line now, and are they being produced? I ran across this Tabman website, which allows you to order and pay for things via paypal, but is there anyone really there? I sent an email to the website, but it came back undeliverable, and I called the phone number, which has been disconnected...

Tabby Crabb.......As the late Nick Danger (Mr. P. Austin)would say (about Betty Jo), "I hadn't heard that name in YEARS!"
I recall him as not just a guy who made great stuff for the magi, but one cool banjo dude. One of the true "outlaws" of the music world, not going in for the big production garbage that was going on at the time. Not a bad writer, either. I guess I didn't know that Ray W. had taken over production of the magic items, nor did I know about his illness. That's (very obviously) not a happy situation. Had an uncle with ALS. Not good. I hope someone is in line to take over production. Some of Tabby's stuff was pretty cool for it's time, and may still well be. |

I have never heard of anyone taking over Tabman's other work. I was one of the purchasers of the last line of Sefalaljia boxes he was working on but he was only able to finish maybe half of them. For awhile it sounded like someone else was lined up to finish the units and since I had not received the one I ordered, I was hopeful. However, nothing came of it. I think he worked so independently that it would have been hard for someone to take on the project without Tabman's instructions.

Del-
I recall that, but never saw the point. Wasn't it a basic "ring-on-rope" that had to be done under cover? I could have it confused with something else. |

Sefalaljia was a multi-phase spirit cabinet routine. There was a ring/rope phase, but there were other effects as well.

Last posted on the Café, the wife's never followed up on the business. No one in the magic community wanted to approach or inform the wife's that there was unfinished orders. Even they know, who's to say they even know anything about the business side of things. The site just may be old left overs, or the wife is paying the yearly fee, and probably don't even know what they are paying for. Then there is the matter of passwords and such.
That sale of business was a lot of years ago like this thread. Both parties, Tabman and Ray are both deceased. Any parties had 6 months to put in claims against the estate, if one was set up, to attempt to recover their funds. If they did not, well - it is their fault. All parties that did not attempt to recover their merchandise or funds, is void now. Tabman or Ray, do not owe anyone anything. So if the company could or would start up again under new ownership, that person has not obligation to fulfill anything with previous owners. |

Bill,
You seem to be giving a lot of legal advice. I would refrain because it may come back to bite you. These types of legal matters vary from state to state. I just want to help you from getting sued. Unless you are a lawyer of course. Hope this helps.
