Al Schneider V.I.P. A corn field in WI surrounded by 1080 Posts |
Elsewhere a thread has been started on lapping. I think it fitting to begin a similar thread on sleeving. I will begin by putting up some stuff I dug up from some old computer files. They were never meant to be published. I did not comb my hair and the video is lacking. Hopefully, some might get a kick out of it.

Glad someone caught my mention about this from the lapping thread, now in Secret Sessions. Sleeving is indeed a tremendous utility and is quite a versatile one at that, many magically creative ways to use it and methods to gitterdone.
Those are a few nice takes Al. Here is something I did a while back along these lines. Not exactly the traditional way of doing things but quite dynamic or so I've been told. It was very well received out there and a real instant stunner for specs. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sfso1HfDEj0

And over on another thread folks are comparing the potential of card vs. coin magic in creating a sense of awe. Many conclude card magic easily creates more awe than coin magic.
See I think the little dynamite routines that Al and Marion have posted above prove that coin magic, although not as varied perhaps as card magic, can very easily provide a real sense of awe for the spectator. The fact that these guys use no suspicios motions (intention of reality??), also makes it happen. Nice going guys...beautiful magic in my "book." Final comment - I am a bit surprised that this topic doesn't get more attention at the Café. Perhaps few closeup magi use these techniques. It can add sooooo much to a routine. Thanks for the routines Al and Marion. chuck
To see a difficult thing lightly handled gives the impression of the impossible.

Sleeving is magic, embrace it, it's your friend.
Although I am fairly new to sleeving it has already proved to be one of my fav and versatile techniques. |

Looks good AL!!! The first trick looks like a Mag**t was used.
If you were surrounded by a lot of people, which method of sleeving would be the safest? I've heard of people in the past having something like a foo can in their sleeve to stop objects from coming down. Paul |

Mr. Schneider what I really like in your last video is that you are not "producing" the vanished coin from the dirty hand (0.08 and 0.48)
So simple thought and so clever.

Al, congratulations on your technique, it looks wonderful. I also like the use of a chain instead of loose tobacco or salt, as has been done in the past. Thank you for sharing that.

I have been experimenting with sleeveing lately. The possibilities seem endless. I can't wait till I get time to watch the videos posted here. Maybe later today.

Al & Mb217 - wow, very smooth. I currently do not use any sleeving and it is clearly a hugh miss when I see how effective it can be. I am very interested in recommendations on sources to use to learn the technique. I do not mind putting in the hours if the technique I am learning looks like a natural vanish. Recommendations?

Nice work..I think I commented on that one a while back. Al...You reminded me/us that you don't have to wear a jacket. At the end of the last video (with the silk ending) I thought you were ending it with a slot machine finale. I tend to write ending for magic, tv and movies. Thanks for giving us fits.....(If it fits....) Harris
