I think it would be a good practical joke if when the men finally leave their "capsule", there is NOBODY around - the building is silent and empty, as if everybody completely forgot about them a year ago!

Having read the article now, this was a Twilight Zone episode, except they were doing it for a trip to the moon and the man did go insane. No ape suits though.
