With many artists doing digital files that can be e-mailed, etc., I was wondering...

If you got a caricature done for your logo/website, etc (yes, the Thread going got me thinking!), who did it for you?

Thanks!

I think every entertainer in England now has a Look Design logo. I'm not sure if I want to use mine now!

Look Design is doing mine right now and they are using some of Chance's "suggestions" to make it awesome! I have also used ecaricature and they do a bang up job...

I just checked out eCaricature.com

I don't see how the "personal caricature" differs that much from the "business logo caricature", at least not to the tune of more than three times the cost. For example, look at the real estate woman, standing next to a "sold" sign. How is that ANY different from any of the "personal" ones? Why not simply tell them to do the cheaper personal pic, and that you want to be in a magician setting. Am I missing something?

Hey check this out!

Apparently an artist for ecaricature went off on his own and charges $10 less!

Mine was a perk at work. When I did a series of shows for the Puppetry Arts Institute ( http://www.hazelle.org ) They took photos and gave them to an artist. This is a procedure they do for all their presenting artist. The caricatures go on their "wall of fame", and the performer is also given the original work. It is not digitalized, but the original and color copies look great.

My avatar is a small version of the work.

I find the price discount point rather sad.
You have already compromised the effectiveness and quality of your design once people start price comparing for the great deal they got on art.
Price is not the point. Quality and likeness are the intent.
I have been in the art world for over 30 years and Angel is the best I have seen on this thread and worth every penny.
If I were in the business of performing and needed a caricature, I would not hesitate in spending upwards of $500 or more.
You buy it once and use it for a lifetime...unless you gain a bit of weight Smile

If people didn't price shop your $500 artist would charge $5000 or $50,000. Yes some people are more price sensitive than others. You don't always get what you pay for. There are bargains, rip-0ffs and over priced deals out there. You have to shop wisely.

I don't drive the most expensive car offered. But I do drive the best car for me based on what I need and what I can afford.

Mike,
You are right to some degree but my point is, as I try my best to not offend other artist/companies, is that some of the caricature's simply are not good by professional standards.
It is a simple fact and if you pay for something that does not meet its simple objective, to look like someone, then, no matter how cheap or expensive it is, you got ripped off.
I am a professional artist and find it incredibly insulting that you would claim that I would charge $5000 or 50,000 just because folks did not price shop. That really is a HUGE stretch.
Just like I said, Artists are like Magicians.
Some charge $75 a show while others charge $500
In most cases, NOT ALL, the professional rate reflects the quality of the show and professionalism etc.
I am actually sickened by the amount of online "Artists/Graphics Companies" puking out work that is supposed to be "professional" and by no means does it each anything close to professional standards.
Their prices are GREATLY reduced and in the end...so is the product. This takes food from the mouths of other true professionals.
This is NOT in ALL cases but the majority for sure.
Give a guy a graphics program and a few fonts and suddenly he is a pro.
Unfortunately, most folks do cannot see the difference and will not see it until they see the job done right. And some simply do not say anything as they did get a "great deal" or do not want to offend the "artist".
Sad times for the guys that spent their entire lives dedicated to the art.
hmmm..kind of reminds me of a LOT of threads in the Café about magicians Smile
take care

I pretty much agree your second post on the subject.

I don't see why you would be insulted at my comment about an artist charging much much more if customers didn't price shop. I wasn't picking you out particularly. I certainly would charge $10,000 for my by birthday party show if people would pay it. That is how I determine what my show is worth. What people are willing to pay.
