Ok, I got my copy today and I will be honest about what I have read so far, a lot of the things I was looking forward to were not exactly what I had hoped but at the same time I like the ideas presented. Once again this is a review of the book after two read throughs, but I wanted to put my opinion in before the hate rained down. The publication itself is very nice, I love the comic book format as well as the art inside it, plus from what I have read so far the explainations are clear enough for most to understand. So let me give a few thoughts on some of the routines:
-Iron Grip: If you like the idea of ripping a penny in half and having it look super convincing then yes this is for you, but not really my style as it is the only not 100% impromptu bit in the book. -Super Hearing: Ok so if you own Triangle take a breath because according to the book this is not the same exact method, though the premis is virtually identical. You do an incredibly powerful routine over the phone, I liked this and look forward to performing for a random friend I call up once I tinker with it a bit and slap on a new presentational idea. -X-Ray Vision Coins: Ok so this routine is going to be a let down to some, but personally I liked it quite a bit and am planning on tying it in with an idea where the spectator tells which hand with a prediction ending (possibly). I liked it, but then again this is the kind of stuff I enjoy performing most. (works very nicely with Prevaricator) -Synchronicity: Alright I am a little biased on this one because I do love new thinking on PK touches and have came up with one or two on my own to try to figure out a way to perform in the most impossible way. If you watched this on Patrick's Mind Tapped, you know the power of seeing it performed, but I was a littl bit disappointed with this in a way. While there is a method to do this 100% impromptu the one you see on Mind Tapped probably isn't it, I disliked it and am now trying to figure out a way to make it more practical in my style, but the routine structure and what it accomplishes is a very stunning feat for any lay person and probably even some fellow mentalist. This one is a love/hate that got my head spinning, but a good love/hate. -Mind Reading (Shade Drawing Duplication and Time Travel): Ok this is a very cool concept, but in all honesty I couldn't get into the drawing duplication much, once again because It is not my style, but still a good drawing duplication in my opinion. Now the time travel effect is flat out spooky and in the right hands a real mind f*@k, but I will say as I noticed two pages are out of correct position which makes reading the explaination very annoying. I like this plot a lot and may start thinking on this very soon. -Bonuses: Very nice ideas on cloud sculpting/bursting idea as well as a nice little practical joke or full blown effect that you can present. Overall: I liked my purchase, but I can kind of understand how some of the people above may feel a little disappointed, but then again I don't care because I will be using some of the concepts, ideas and plots in my own work while others simply throw them to the wind. I recommend this book, but not unless you are ready for some pretty difficult work for most routines and are open to inspiration as opposed to just performing other's material alone. Thanks to Patrick for a lovely publication and for having the balls to stray off mentalism's common plot ideas and come up with some outlandish and crazy ideas. -Jake |

In Syncronicity the part I was mildly disappointed with was the starring sensations phase by the way, the rest was some very inventive stuff and some new touches on the classic that are worth checking out.

A bit of a more detailed review as I'm still working through this... while the X-ray vision coins isn't exactly what I thought it would be it does exactly as advertised so I can't say I'm disappointed. The rest of the effects in the book are killer and I can't wait to try out the Starring Sensation bit. Question for Patrick if you're out there still.... when you did this at Mindvention did you use the impromptu method or the other method you discuss?

Just got my shipping notification. I ordered Pentagon and Heptagon+.
Been spending time with Triangle and Square the past couple weeks. Been performing the poker deal from Square every chance I get. Such a brilliant effect. I'm in love with it. And Prevaricator has been a staple in my repertoire for a while now too. Look forward to digging further into Patrick's work with these last two offerings. |

As explained in the text of the book that clip you've mentioned (that's about six years old) was performed with the impromptu method. It was that shoot that prompted me to come up with the 100% impromptu method as prior to that I was using the other method discussed in the book. Both methods are explained in the text for completeness. Both methods are very strong and you it's hard to realize the strength of the deception until you've tried it. All parties involved are still perplexed. If the impromptu method seems too off the wall...try the other method I discuss...it feels exactly like an invisible pressure to the subject and one that can't be easily explained away. Quote:

I will take your word for it Patrick and test it out ASAP On a side note, I tested X-Ray Eye Coins the other night and it fried! Pentagon also prompted me to pull out my copy of Cloud Bursting: The Inside Secrets by Mr. Knight and Mr. Finley again, Patrick has some nice thoughts about the subject in the back as I mentioned in the review. Once again Patrick, keep it up man and put out some information of Hexagon as soon as possible!!!

I've reread it about 10 times and as part of a memory erasure effect flipped in just a few of the Redford PK Variations - thus turning it into a memory transfer.... I hooked two people together via mystic powers and then had someone have a memory erased and it ended up in the other's head with a signed signature.... did it last night!

Love how Patrick gets three separate touches out of the last tapping bit. Great stuff! Can't wait to start incorporating these ideas into my routine. |

I have to say that I am very very impressed!!. This booklet truly lives up to the hype that some have built around it. Not only are the ideas superb, but the creativity in the writing and the comic book layout are professional and entertaining at the same time. I love to read about new ideas and methodology but this book makes me want to re-read it after I know how to perform the effect. Also included are some awesome bonus material and not to mention a 60's era folding hypno-graph pamphlet.
Great job!!! ~Gavin |

Pentagon is pure genius!!! Patrick really outdid himself on this one. His PK Touches touches are simply brilliant and worth the price of the book. The pages of Pentagon are filled with incredibly solid, high caliber mentalism routines that are artistically expressed in a beautifully illustrated and exciting to read comic book format. What could be better...
Well done Mr. Redford! Thank you for putting this out. It was well worth the wait!!! Ran
