Hi, I recently bought this handwritten booklet, done by some fellow probably 150 or even more years ago, and filled with some old handwritten tricks and the "mesmeric" articles. I decide to show it on this forum, because I really don't know too much about this roots of the conjuring, and maybe someone here will be appreciate to see it.
So, this notebook is not dated, but, in my opinion, it is handwritten in the period 1849-1850. It has total 29 handwritten pages - 8 pages of magic tricks, 16 pages of "Electrical Psychology" and 5 pages on the "Process of Magnetizing". I found that part on the "Electrical Psychology" is copied from the book "A key to the science of the Electrical Psychology", written by some mysterious "Professor of the Science" and printed in Cleveland (1849). So, it is most probably that person who wrote the notebook just copied the part on the EP, but it is also possible that writer of the notebook is also the author of the book, so in that case notebook is some kind of original writing, is suppose. I am just not sure. I included a couple of scans of the notebook, so, if someone find it interesting, I will be glad to provide a more informations about it: http://i1221.photobucket.com/albums/dd46......ge82.jpg http://i1221.photobucket.com/albums/dd46......ge83.jpg http://i1221.photobucket.com/albums/dd46......ge84.jpg Click here to view attached image. |

This is copied from several different sources, I think. Part looks like it came from one of the many editions of H. Dean.

Hi, I am sorry, didn't see your post before. I usually don't like to let the pieces from my collection, but, if you think that this one could be useful to you or someone else, maybe we can make some exchange, for the other magician's collectibles you have?
I placed this thread just because I wanted to know more about the notebook, and I supposed that some people here will be able to tell me something more about the origin of the booklet. However, I sent you a PM... I am not sure that we can use this Forum for the selling and buying stuff... eBay or Amazon are more appropriate for that. |

Thank you for the info, Bill! I must say that this Forum is one with the most colorful topics on the net, and it seems that every time I come a new topic appears, and some old disappear... however, this is a magician's forum, so it should not surprise me

Very few of the topics disappear. They usually move to the next page. Look at the bottom of the list of topics when you enter a section of the forum.
