Reading another thread, George gave me an idea for a Christmas Routine. How about you guys throw in some ideas, and we can make it a fully-fleshed routine. My basic concept is to have big cards with pictures of all the different foodstuffs we like to eat at Christmas. Turkey, Christmas Pudding, Chocolate, Roast Potatoes, etc.....and of course, BRUSSELS SPROUTS! (If these aren't commonly hated by kids in the US, perhaps someone can come up with a Christmas food that American kids do despise?) My idea is to have one of the familiar card effects where someone chooses a card - and of course, there are a zillion different ways to proceed.
Whatever the actual card effect, in the end, there would be a sucker finish where the magician fails to get the right card, but ends up with a big bowl of cold brussels sprouts. I have a few ideas, but don't want to throw them into the mix just yet......until a few other folks put in their 2c. Potty |

About 15+ years ago, I created a Christmas trick that uses jumbo cards, and spelling words. It's a take on David Ginn's Lobster Cards (which I think is a take on someone else's trick), from one of his Kidbiz DVDs. There are various Christmas drawings / words, and the odd one that keeps showing up is rubber chicken. So, I called my trick Rubber Chicken Cards. One of the kids always gets the rubber chicken card, which creates lots of laughter.
David performed my version in his Christmas Magic lecture for a couple of years, and the set up is detailed in his Christmas Magic Lecture Notes from 2006. - Donald
