Same. C&B is NOT dead, and the audiences love it.
What I've done is to strip the routine to it's almost bare bones; just the balls and one small final load. I go slow, have a great patter going that involves the audience and they love it. I had about a dozen people handling the cups after the effect trying to figure it out. I had one young man who was convinced the cups were gimmicked... good thing I wasn't using my combo cup... *innocent whistling* Again, I'd say its just perception. The Penn and Teller issue I'm NOT going to get into.
