The first Artful Mentalism book by Bob Cassidy
The book on book tests by Dick Christian, which he unfortunately never finished. Alternatively I would love to have his lecture notes.

After reading the glowing reviews and the posts on the MC, I'd add the new Vanni Bossi book Aretalogy to my list.

I have all the books I want…
For now.
And good books are rather rare nowadays. So it is not so impossible to have the few new good ones regularly.

The Book I would really like to have doesn't exist yet.
It would be an update encyclopedia of magic with the latest refinement. And a philosophical treatise of our art. Even though a lot of people have tried that philosophic effort in the last decades. There is so much to do in this area.

Amen brother! Now if we could just Max Maven, Jon Racherbaumer, and Mike Close to write it!

Considering the huge task, I think you are right Vlad, it could be a team effort only. And a big team ! I would see a collective work, asking to experts in each field or sub field to write an article on a fine point, and some would make the synthesis of all articles on the same subject. Finally collecting all the works in an encyclopedia.

I'm looking for Deceptions From A Daypack vol 1: Saigon Subtleties. I've got vol 2 but can't track down vol 1 for love nor money. If anyone has a copy they would be willing to sell, please pm me.

I think your perception and position along the path to magic success would have a big impact on which books to select.

When I started out in 1980, none of the great selections we have now were available.
I had a limited budget, being newly married, and had to choose between Tarbell 2 and Expert at the Card Table.
I choose Tarbell 2, since I wanted Card magic, but also wanted to do other areas. The guy at Yogi's magic mart
in NW Baltimore got POed at me for not buying Tarbell 1. I wanted card magic and those were th only two books I could afford.

Today, I can afford them, and have bought most of them, but have reached the full storage limit with the wife.
My magic also has to share space with my guitars, miniature soldiers, military history books, rock and geology books, and board game collections!
Cordially Yours,

Jim Rose

-Apocalypse volume 3
(out of print from what I see)

-The Books of Wonder volume 1 and 2
(also out of print if I'm correct)

I am also thinking about picking up:

-Dai Vernon's Book of Magic
I read this one is very good. Some would include it among the books you must own. I can't find to much about the booo but from what I know it is first released at the end of the 1950's and the L&L reprint has better quality pictures. Love to read some more reviews.

-Harry Lorayne The Magic Book
Not to confuse with Dai Vernon's Booo of Magic but I also read that many people are very positive about this book from mr. Lorayne.

-Card College Light 1-3
I really like the Card College books from Roberto Giobbi and this Light series is also great from what I've seen so far on the forum. About 20 effects per book but what interests me most is how Giobbi is going to make these effects his own with his thoughts on presentation.

I recently got Art of Astonishment 1-3 from Paul Harris because I've read so many great reviews here on the forum and I also got volume 2 of Apocalypse by Harry Lorayne.

I also got The Card Magic of Nick Trost and I have a feeling all these books will keep me occupied for a long long time.

Still, I can't help it looking for other books that are now out of print or maybe going to soon because it will be harder to find them later and I know I will get them eventually anyay so why not now? Smile

Card College volume 3 and the Booos of Wonder for example.
Looking for Apocalypse vol 3 / The Books of Wonder

This is listed on Dennis Behr's site, does anyone know how or where to purchase? I have Volume 1 and it is excellent!
