There are two out-of-prints I really, really want, but I would say that 12 of the top 30 magic books I have were ordered within the last 24 months, and all but one of those are still available in print at retail. It is definitely not a bad time to be a magic book lover. Some of those would be Carneycopia, Al Schneider Magic, Secret Ways of Al Baker, Book of Secrets, David Roth's Coin Magic, Master of Misdirection, and Richard's Almanac. I know some believe that DVDs have ruined the market for book lovers to some degree, but I personally don't think that is the case at all. Actually, I think it is a phenomenal time to be a magic book lover. And if one is open to eBooks (i.e. from Lybrary), it even gets better. One can have all 907 digital pages of the original Jinx for $15 for God's sake. Screw DVDs (except for all DVDs by John Carney, coin magic DVDs, Richard Osterlind, Michael Ammar, Bill Malone, Tommy Wonder, etc...). Okay, so magic DVDs are pretty good these days too.

LOL ClintonMagus!! That HAS to be the nicest post I have read tonight concerning my lack of David Regal completeness. Thanks for the kind sentiment - I think Smile

Best to you!!

The second edition of the Magic Way is just released in Spanish recently, that means, I hope that Stephen Minch will release this wonderful book in English soon.
Most memorable moment - with Maestro Juan Tamariz & Consuelo Lorgia in FISM Busan 2018.

Alright guys, it's been about a year since this thread was started, have you been able to knock off some books from your list?

I've been fortunate enough to get all of the books off of my list except Bound to Please, The Aronson Approach and Personal Collection. The above are still within my grasp except for the Harry Lorayne tome.

I'd be interested in hearing how you guys have come along, and what is your new list?

Upcoming books that I would like to get:

-Personal Collection, Harry Lorayne (probably won't happen but one can dream)

-Complete Walton Vol. 1 & 2 (good news with the reprint I'm hoping early next year these will be mine)

-Bound to Please, Simon Aronson

-Aronson Approach, Simon Aronson

-Legendary Heirophant, Jon Racherbaumer

-Legendary Kabbala, Jon Racherbaumer

-Pabular Book 2 (that darn Classic Periodicals thread!!)

-A Book in English, Woody Aragon

Because my magic budget has been decimated this year (buying all of those other books from last year's post, haha), these might have to wait until next year.

Wow, I can't believe it's been a year since I started this. I will have to wait for Classic Collection 4 it seems to get Star Quality since with shipping figured in wiull still be less expensive than buying the Regal book second hand. I had considered a desperate plea at one point to David Regal. You know, being a total sycophant and promising him my first born -if I ever have one - all that melodramatic stuff. But I already make a fool of myself enough round these parts.

Still haven't acquired Modus Operandi. I need to get my bearings on the magic scene here in the Old World. Peo turned me on to an excellent dealer in Finland so maybe he has this.

As for Mr. Jennings Takes it Easy, since nobody else has it, I guess I feel okay with that.

Got the Walton books and they are even better than I expected and my expectations were high; it's Roy Walton after all!

So now my list consists of:

Ramon Rioboo's new book (Yes Peo, I will call Marko lol)
Magic Page by Page (When I read the Pabular compilation, I ALWAYS read and re-read Patrick Page's column)
I have the originals but I fear handling them, so I will most likely order the Viking reprint of MAGICK; the shipping costs however terrify me. As far as I know, only Viking sells these. George is a great guy but international shipping is decidedly UNgreat. Smile

When I earn as much money as Sir Paul McCartney (yeah right) I am going to buy out Byron Walker AND Jon Gregit. Knowing my karma however, the day all of that comes by 13 cargo vessels, a meteorite will make me a grease spot at Rotterdam port. It is hell being me. Smile

I also have a copy. I bought it a few years ago. It had been a part of Billy McComb's library and had been signed to him by David Regal. A real treasure.

Cool! I have a copy of J. C. Wagners book in HC signed by JC to John Carney. I bought it from John at a Magic Castle swap meet years ago.

At the top of my want list is Occam's Magic....just can't buy what hasn't been published.

Other than that, there is a seemingly endless list of books I want that I'm slowly acquiring. I'll see if I can make up a top 5 or 10 list later on.

Well, I received/purchased the following from last year's list:

Collected Almanac
Subtle Card Creations 1
Secret Ways of Al Baker

On my new list:
Stewart James in Print: The First 50 Years
One Degree
The Classic Collection 4

There are many others, but I see these as more interesting to my current tastes.

It's been a great year, and I've grown a lot as a performing magician. Although I've learned from many sources, I feel like I've performed a lot of David Regal effects over the last year. He's so devilishly clever!!!
