This was back in 2009... Any news as to what happened afterwards?

Don't know, but one thing in that article caught my eye:
Quote:
Mr. Spinney’s 25 percent royalty was subject to a fee Angel charged for performing the effect. So Criss Angel charges a fee for performing your effect? So, he is like the home shopping network then?

Don't know who the culprit is, but I'd bet 10 to 1 it never ends up in a public trial.
Do not go where the path may lead, but go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.

I could easily be wrong here but, last I heard about this, the kid was given two settlement options. One to take a lump sum of money and keep the items off the market, or take a small sum of money and sell the tricks as he wishes. I heard that neither option was realistic to the kid so it may still be in negotiations. But my guess is that the kid was paid a fair sum along with a signed disclosure agreement as criss or the luxor didn't need bad media. Seriously, would be bad media when angel is seen as a guy who will rip off a young kid who has much more talent than angel himself.

Even if the case goes to trial, it can take up to and possibly longer than 5 years in a large city like Los Angeles, Chicago or New York. I've been down that road and I speak from experience. In a lawsuit that I was engaged in took 13 years before we received any money. It was a nightmare to say the least.
