Ancestry.com says she did. But how could she have flow under the rader of all the major Houdini buffs of the day? My investigation below:

Yep. That was actually news to me as well. But check out the Benjilini book. He shows exactly where the graves are/where. Also check out this 1996 NYT article. The guy who controls the plot says he has the broken stones and is "looking for someone to restore them.'' Apparently the Copperfield donation only paid for the benches.

Well, Bess's stone is there and she's not there. As for Leopold, from what I read about Jewish cemetery customs, Leopold would have to be buried in a different part of the cemetery because of his suicide.

According to an SAM sketch of the site they are both buried there. The broken grave stones are supposed to be in the house there. We will try to put the diagram on our site. Right now we are answering too many questions about how we got to put the bust back on the monument. We are getting calls and emails from all over the world. Our lines are tied up. Link to Houdini bust story or small part of it

We are thrilled we were able to bring The Grim Game to the world! Thanks TCM.

I couldn't find the exact date of Carrie Gladys' death.
I can't remember whether or not I finally found Bill's exact death date.
Ancestry wasn't any help. But Ancestry was improving throughout the three years I worked on Houdini--the Key, maybe there's a bit more now.
I tried to get the birth and death dates and places of everyone I mentioned in the book and I get a lot of them from Ancestry and elsewhere, but, not all.
The internet may already have the info by now.

You have 1972 in The Key, Pat.

So far I've seen 1941, 1958, 1959, 1972, and 1982.

Ann has posted an update in my article saying the person who posted the '82 date on Ancestry is going to remove it as they don't have proof.

I'm leaning towards 1959 myself. Meyer cites hospital records in Houdini A Mind in Chains. That's pretty good. There also just seems to be a general gathering of opinion around 58/59.
