This performance shares something with the art of magic, especially as far as centering on an effect rather than character, plot, theme, or some other element. It cannot simply be classified as a mime or dance because of the focus on achieving a visual effect. The effect is even illusory and borders on being impossible or magical--but, of course, no one would call this a magic act:

Magic is a vanishing art.

Pretty. It could be magical if they used a treadmill, some black outfits and just a tiny bit of pre/post activity to permit the dancer to walk over to the arch and then to walk away from the arch after.

While magicians might not consider this magic, surely most people would consider it to be magicial, artistic, illusionary and even astonishing. If they produced red balls at their fingertips would it suddenly be a magic act?
If you were to perform a magic act on stage wouldn't you love to have this group go first? If the audience is to "see magic" in what you do, shouldn't we applaud anything that increases appreciation of astonishment and "things magical?" "could be magical" Jonathan? Surely you jest. Certainly more magical than a escape artist or coin flourishes.

Most magicians would consider it to be as magical as any one else. Cool!
If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.

I don't think there is anything magical in it, other then that anything artistic might be described as "magical". It is synchronized dance, creating a beautiful and evocative visual display. This is along the lines of what we see from an aerial view of many opening numbers to the Olympic games, with the evocative content Asian mythological.

There is something vaguely familiar about these images, something that reminds me of my experiences which could be centuries old. I think I've seen them before, in another life, at another time. The woman's face, all her shimmering hands, they all remind me of more peaceful, more ancient time. Eons ago.
:D
Will you walk into my parlour? said the Spider to the Fly,
Tis the prettiest little parlour that ever you did spy; The way into my parlour is up a winding stair, And I've a many curious things to show when you are there. Oh no, no, said the little Fly, to ask me is in vain, For who goes up your winding stair -can ne'er come down again. |

I like the idea of a live-action video effect item even if it is kinda angleprone.
