Does anybody have a link to a web site that sells shim material for cards? Any help would be great. Thanks

I get mine at the local hobby store, they usually have all metals in various sheet thickness. Bring a magnet alone just to make sure it attracts and is not stainless steel. If they don't carry it they will probably be able to order it for you.

For thicker material I've used the bottom of a coffee can.

Hope this helps,

Steve

The metal strip from a wooden ruler works great if a small piece is needed

I think they must be down for weekend maintenance. I was on the site at that very page when I copied the url. I then checked it right after I posted it, too.

Just Google MSC direct, or MSC Industrial Supply. Then search their site for metal shim stock. Smile

I put this in another thread : When you purchase a carded or blister packaged item there is generally a security strip inside or on the item in which reside two tissue thin metallic strips, these are the things that set off store shoplifting alarms. These metallic strips are attracted to magnets and are undetectable when making shimmed cards. You can get free shim material with every purchase if you choose wisely.

Thin shims can be had easily from wiper blades. Peel the rubber and you will find two lond thin strips of stainless.
