Any recommendations for something to perform during the Halloween season?
I was looking for something fairly impromptu, or at least something that packs small and requires little to no setup.

Any ideas?

Higley's "3 no evil" or a haunted key, or a pendulum. . .need I say more?

excellent suggestions., however, I would add in Hampton Falls by tony Chris.
for variety also add white star and from hell.
Finally if I may plug my own memento mori, which I never leave home without!

The Witch of Glastonbury, which is very easy to learn and packs a big punch. Available on my site.

Card trick with razor blades and a lot of blood. I modified the Andrew Mayne effect and it works great.

The Haunted Hand is exactly what you are looking for. A small skeleton hand is placed on the palm of your hand and it slowly rises in your hand. No threads, and very easy to do.

Critchlow's 'Till Death do us Part' - cannot go wrong with that one.

A few people asked about "Momento..." - actually that routine is available as part of the pdf sample at Dean's excellent Leaping Lizards site: you can read the routine here: http://www.leapinglizardsmagic.com/seven_shades_preview.pdf

Be sure to then cruise the site and read about the wonderful works of Mr Prater and Brother KOTAH and Walt Anthony, and in fact everything else on there! It's all good stuff, and Dean is an enthusiast for Bizarre - always has been, long before it seemed to get trendy.

Just Read DocSteves work here - VERY generous. Actually... TOO generous! I echo big G's comment. Strong stuff for the 'big night' ahead.

Thanks for the great ideas. These sound great for crating an atmosphere.
Any suggestions for effects that are shorter in length and more portable? Like the haunted key for example?

The witch of glastonbury, available on Paul Prater's website fits the bill perfectly.

Also, on Critchlow's 'Till Death do us Part' Paul Gleeson has a presentation on Youtube where he has the spectator give names to the couple and it's written on the back fo the cards. Is this pre-show work or is there a more spontaneous way to add this to the routine?

The story of the Monkey's Paw always gives my audiences some thrills. You'll find my presentation in The Wizards' Journal #4 on my site.

More recently, Qua-Fiki's close-up version of Sefalaljia that he calls "The Babushka of Baba Yaga" (The Wizards' Journal #21) gets shrieks out of the teenage girls he performs it for. It's designed for tablehopping with easy resets between tables.
