Hi all,
Here is a rough (iPhone) video of Haunted that I've uploaded recently on request. This video shows the basic Haunted with Mark's (bonus) handling as for the last phase -just the raw footage here with the animation speed that I personally prefer to use... As stated in the vid, you can speed it up, slow it down etc. all depending on your preferences and performance style. The new batch of Haunted has the bonus handling & advanced tips included. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F_lHVWONr......a_player Best, Peter

Hi All, I must say, I also got Hauted and yes the effect is spectacular but I don't see how this can be used in a real show. without exposing it, there are too many factors that can make the effect a dud such as if it's too humid or cold. Card workers carry cards in pockets often, this will make the gimmick stick more...
So in my opinion, the effect is spectacular, and could play big, but unless I'm filming a TV special where I can afford to screw up most times and edit the trick, I wouldn't use it. I don't want to bash anyone here, I just think there's too many variables to put this in my reportoire. So, if anybody is interested, I have a brand new Hauted for sale, gimmick never used and all. Dear Franco,
I am not trying to be rude or anything but maybe the "I have a brand new Hauted for sale, gimmick never used and all." is the reason you feel that way. All I am saying is, if you have never used it how do you know.? Best regards, Titanas

Very nice video Peter showing just why I love this so much.
The 3 seperate phases get reactions all the way through the effect. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F_lHVWONr......a_player Franco, If you think about the "problem" you are mentioning it is very easily resloved. As Peter mentions in the video above you can make things faster or slower to your liking, it sounds like you are making yours too slow, assuming you have tried it? If anyone is near Leamington Spa in the UK on 20th June you can come to my lecture/ workshop where I can promise everyone will be doing this before they leave. You must bring your DVD and supplies with you or buy on the day to gain entry. See http://lawms.wordpress.com/day-of-magic/ for more details.

I'm sure that was purely coincidental!

David, I'm glad you have it working now.
If anyone is having trouble with the animation I'll do my best as with David to help them. This in my opinion is the best looking and animated hands free haunted deck, just watch the video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F_lHVWONr......a_player All the others on the market remote control, or other methods can not produce this amazing visual. It can be quicker if you wish Peter likes it this way I like it quicker myself see my video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LqMraAH4V6A It can be even quicker if you wish!

Of the videos I've seen, I agree this looks the best. I may have to pick this up.
I think Peter's video is a touch too slow and my ideal is the speed Mark just posted. However if you were really attempting to play up the "haunted" angle on this, then the slower the better, I would think. In fact I can imagine doing a version where I'd set it on my friend's living-room table, wait a few seconds, and then say, "hmmm... I guess it's not going to happen." Pop into the kitchen with my friend, grab a drink, and then when we go back out the deck is cut and the card is popped out. It would almost be like that scene in The 6th Sense where the camera pans from the kitchen to another room, then back to the kitchen where every cabinet and drawer is opened up. Imagine doing Haunted that way... late at night... in your friend's apartment where they know nobody else could get to the deck. And then you're like, "Listen, Tiffany, I should really spend the night. I'd feel awful if something happened to you because I left you alone with a potentially malevolent spirit that I conjured. Also, spiritualists often reminds us that ghosts are angered by constrictive clothing, so shall we get into something more comfortable?... for the sake of not upsetting the ghost, I mean?" that's going to be my go-to presentation. |

I always got "plays well with others" on my report cards. Right up through college...which was really kinda strange!
I agree that a long delay can be too long. I've seen some demos -- in particular an early one of Rasmus's -- where the deck took about 20 seconds to show any movement at all. That may not sound like much, but when you're asking spectators to just stand and stare at a deck of cards for 20 seconds, it suddenly becomes a pretty long time. Since both decks use essentially the same method -- and since the timing method is the same on both -- I assume neither is better than the other in that arena.
