I seen a version of rope thru the neck.
the performer made a single tying of the rope and when he pulled it thru his neck the knot was on the rope. it looked alsome. todd |

If Rope through neck is for a street act aren't you going to have people behind you or do you always have your back to a wall?

T+his is a prime example why books are so important. Almost every magic book (from my local library) had that rope trick explained with patter suggestions.
Go to the library and look for magic books. Bryan
Oh sure, I can spell "Antidisestablishmentarianism", but I can't type t-h-e.

Spell check wouldn't have shown his error, because as far as the system was concerned, he spelled nothing wrong. Pattern is a word, and was spelled right.

Just buy Abbott's Endlass Neck Rope, it is a continious loop of rope like gause. Put over your head, and then loop around your neck. It is a great little trick, and easy to do.

Frankly, I took rope thru neck out of my street routine, as I have been blasted twice by parents who felt it could lead to harm for their children...

There are always going to be those parents like that and it is perfectly understandable - each child is different in the way they think about things. I do find it funny though because I would bet that some of those very same parents that blasted you for a rope through neck, will take their child to watch an illusionist shove flaming spears, sharp swords or knives into a box containing an assistant, and they would think absolutely nothing of it. Just something we have to deal with unfortunately. |

"The next trick is extremely dangerous so please do not try this at home."
"I'd like to take a minute to dedicate this trick to all the magicians who have passed away performing this stunt." This patter makes some of the kiddos scared your head is going to fall off. |

Dr & Mormo-
It is exasperating what some parents choose to get uptight about. And I agree they will turn right around and ignore a really dangerous potential. But after eliminating ropes, knives, balloons, fire, anything a kid could swallow, drink or put in their eye, all I had left was the bullet catch, so I gave up kids magic... :) Jim
