For the people that saw the show, I am planning for my birthday early next year to go to LV and watch the show as my B'day present with one of my children (young teenager)
What are the best seats? Do I buy the tickets directly from their page or other source? Should I stay at The Rio or go somewhere else for hotel accommodations (will be my first time in LV, any other show (not magic) that could interest my kid and I (Cirque du Soleil, what else)

Do not miss Mac King! Rick Thomas has a wonderful afternoon show as well that you will enjoy immensely. You may be able to find tickets at a reduced rate from various ticket vendors in addition to the discounts offered from the casinos.

You can also get free tickets to some shows for visiting a no obligation to purchase time share opportunity pitch.

Thank you Devious, but I will plan to attend only 1 magic show (pen & Teller) and maybe something else.
How do I get the discounts from the Casinos. The Rio could have a better deal that the one published?

When you get there, many venues, ticket discounters etc...have reduced rates to many shows including Penn & Teller's. If you wait until arrival however, your particular show time and date may be sold out. Don't take that chance as it's not worth the savings you may benefit from, especially if you are travelling from out of country.

When you check into the Rio, they can offer you a discount to your show or even complimentary passes. It's worth waiting until you get there to see what kind of deals you can get. That's actually part of the fun of your visit. You will understand when you arrive.
Have a safe journey. Please let us know how it all turns out mate!

When I went I was 2nd row, center, and they picked me as a volunteer. It was one of the greatest experiences of my life.
I'd say 2nd or 3rd row. 1st row seems too stalkerish, 5th row doesn't seem stalkerish enough.

Thank you guys, good information. I am flying from NY, so not to far, but I agree with Devious, I will not miss the show for $5 difference.
Any experience with the Rio as a hotel, or should I pick something else? I can afford the Rio so any comparable hotel could be ok, if they offer better amenities, views, location etc

Rio as a hotel is great. It has all the great services, however the main problem with it is that it is not on the strip. It has free shuttle bus going to strip every 40mins or so but it is very small and often packet. Taxi wont cost much either but personally I have always prefered to stay on the strip.

Penn and Teller tend to get sold out, especially on weekends so if you intent to see just one show then it might be a good idea to get the tickets in advance. The save is only around 20-30$ when compared to tix for tonight ticket prices. Also some of Penn and Teller material is little too small for the theatre of that size and especially from balcony it can be hard to follow up some routines.

I've stayed once on the strip and once at Sam's Town. I prefer being on the strip to dealing with Vegas traffic and their weird ass street conflagerations. But I did save a lot of money when I stayed at Sam's Town and it was still a really nice place.

Thank you guys, I also thought that could be better to be on the strip, but now I am sure.
What Hotels you will recommend on the Strip (Rio's price is ok)? What is the best way to get a better deal? I normally use Expedia or hotels.com for been convenient, any other resources?

Thank you Pablo

Want a cheaper hotel that is close, go across the street from the Rio to the Gold Coast. Nice clean rooms, good restaurants at very reasonable prices, and you go directly to their site to book, you can find rooms under $40 a night often much less. http://www.coastcasinos.com then click on the Gold Coast, they have free shuttle service to the center of the strip if you want to go cruise the strip.

Hi Pablo:

Some hotels that are nice and at the center of the strip include the Mirage, Harrahs, and Paris. There are many others, but those are three that I know about. I've been to Vegas many times and always book the hotels directly on the hotel's website instead of going through places like expedia. Another hotel I like a lot is New York New York, but it's more toward one end of the strip.

I agree that the Rio is very nice, but not on the strip.

It's not too bad a walk from New York New York to other places on the strip though, IMO. If you don't mind a bit of exercise. I always wanted to stay at the Venetian but they are so expensive.

As for other shows, The Phantom of the Opera at the Venetian is worth seeing just for the Chandelier (which is way cooler going up than coming down btw) and the stagecraft used. Theater is too big for the show and the show is shortened, buts its a nice piece of entertainment.

Gold Coast across street from Rio is one of my favorites. IMHO MAC KING IS A BETTER SHOW THAN P&T. Since it is in afternoon you can do both.

Thank you for all the good advise, I need now to decide on the day and I think I'll be all set. I'd prefer to be at the strip, but the Gold Coast has 2 good endorsement and it is substantially less expensive.
My intention is to go and see P&T, maybe there are other magicians that people like more, but I like these 2 guys and never saw them in person.
I saw the Phantom in NYC, so I will look for some other play.

The story implies that they may be playing again by November or December. If so then an early next year trip should work out. But it would be wise to track the story just to make sure.
