Let me just grab my copy of Plutarch's "Lives" and start typing....
OK, I won't do it, but you've got the idea. Geronimo was a badass, I think. Nathan Bedford Forrest was definitely a badass. Genghis Khan, anyone? Walt Garrison and Leroy Jordon were badasses. Mick Jagger is a badass. Magic Santa is a badass. And how about Gaius Mucius Scaevola? Badass! |

Simo Hayha.
This physically unprepossessing Finn served in the 1940 Winter War against the Soviet Union. He was a sniper who was credited with 505 witnessed kills (and 37 unconfirmed) with his (Russian) iron-sight equipped Mosin-Nagant rifle. That is still the record for any sniper in any major war. He was incapacitated by a Soviet sniper who put a bullet through his jaw and put out of action after about 100 days at the front. But not before he killed that Soviet sniper. There were about 5 hours of daylight during the time he served at the front. So he killed one Soviet soldier just about every hour of his war. The Russians called him "the White Death." He also killed several hundred other Russians using a submachine gun in battle, but those kills do not count towards his sniper total. After the war, he became a dog breeder and trainer. A very modest man, he simply said that he had done his duty as best as he could. |

Is this list/thread limited to badasses who are worthy of respect?

Well, we weren't talking about "good" badasses.

+1 to Walt Garrison and Lee Roy Jordan!
My ex-cat was named "Muffin". "Vomit" would be a better name for her. AKA "The Evil Ball of Fur".

Guess they forgot to tell Bill Buckley. "...as we reason and love, we are able to hope. And hope enables us to resist those things that would enslave us." |

I suppose goodasses need their own thread.
But that might be embarrassing for me, since y'all would inevitably have me on your short list. |

Actually, Lobowolf, Gandhi was a badass, and a very unpleasant character at that.
As for Gurkhas, here's a not atypical example: http://articles.timesofindia.indiatimes.......taranjan |
