Okay, so in the last 4 or 5 years I could count MAYBE a dozen or more magicians in our country (USA) working the street. (mostly talking about full time workers who travel and work popular pitches around the country)

I'd say in the last year, this number has grown dramatically. Even the number of full time workers who DON'T travel, or part timers/weekend warriors are way up from what I've seen. It seems like every pitch I go to there are 5 or 6 magicians working. Where did they come from? Is it the recession? gigs drying up?.. Is it because of the growing popularity of street classes/bootcamps/lectures/workshops/ online instruction? .. I'm Curious!

Performance gigs were one of the most hardest hit in the recession
Like in Vegas, they're probably taking to the streets out of necessity

Recession. I was a desk bound paper shuffler until the economy turned me into a busker.

I saw a magician working the streets and I though busking would allow me to express myself artistically; While earning money.

The first part is true; WITHOUTH earning money. Smile

Now, I need to supplement my income. Because of the recession.

You've learned the old saw, unilogo:
