I am thinking off buying this to try with the ring and rope routine, instead of using one of my 13" linking rings. anyone seen this close up. http://www.lightupandjuggle.com/store/in......ts_id=27

Whats the best routine you have seen with a larger ring, lets say 13" Diameter. magicwalsh@gmail.com Thank you.

"Flip's Truly Magical Rope Magic" should have what you're looking for. "Routine 5 Ring on Rope Routine".

He uses quite a large Ring. This is available through L&L although they did not produce it. Flip is charming to watch and you're sure to enjoy the whole disc.

5 or 6 down on the page.

The weight of the Ring can be very important so you will have to make adjustments.

Give us a report on how Rope Magic goes over in the dark.LOL

Good Luck.

Thanks Mary, I do have his dvd, don't like his sense of humour and jokes, but I will pick something from the disc, thank you for your reply,

I think you are putting up an interesting hypothesis here: Will a ring and rope routine benefit from using this kind of ring?

My first question would be if this kind of ring will lessen the argumentation of the trick. A solid steel ring that can be examined is quite an argument. Will this more strange kind of ring have the same impact?

Perhaps it will be better performed in a musical context enhancing a beautiful choreografic sequence?

Another question that comes to mind is in what kind of light would this best be performed? If you use it when it is darker, will that affect the fact that only the ring is lightened up? What will happen if you also can make the rope glow in the dark?

I don't think the answers to this are obvious, so I hope to hear from your experimentation.

Are you going to use a big ring, and an average size rope?

I know Aldo uses a thick plastic ring.

Metal is so reflective that it can be hard to see the effect clearly.

I'm sticking to my metal rings (because of the weight) but for visibility's sake it is worth exploring other options.

At the moment I do a short routine using thick white rope and one of my 13" linking rings, from the Mel mellers dvd, I thought a light up coloured ring would be better for childrens/ family parties.

FYI: King's Kountry sells plastic rings (similar to Aldo's) up to 9" in many colors.
I sanded the mold seams with 400 to 600 grit wet/dry sandpaper and automotive compound. Perfecto!

King's Kountry changed their web address, and I thought they went out of business. Thanks for that valuable info.

Glad that helped Al.

I just ordered a bunch of large rings from them.
Maybe experiment with something new.

Dick Zimmerman's Dancing Ring on Rope has been out for years. It uses a rope and small ring that will glow with black light. It looks great on stage. Not many do it because it does require practice, and the printed instructions only gives the moves. It also uses IT like the old Squirmy Worm Rope trick rope. Well, it is the Squirmy Worm Rope trick with a ring added to the trick.

I think the lighted rings would add something to the trick, as people will think, how can that be a split ring, because the light would go out.

It would be good if you can come up with a way to have the rope lighted as well. Maybe with today's led lights, something can be made up.
