Rus is just finishing it up from what I hear. He didn't give an exact time frame, but it sounds like it should be up very soon. He has been pretty busy working on it lately. Plus he is already talking about another trick he has in the pipeline not counting the upcoming Shatter. I swear this guy never sleeps.

Lol just bought this, as mentioned before Rus thinking never ceases to amaze me, I can see this getting that WTF response.
And for the £5 I payed for it I am more than happy. Very smart effect as always with Rus work, simple and direct. Bravo, I'm still chuckling to myself about the clever method. |

Review of: SHUNT by Rus ANDREWS
PRICE: £5.00  http://www.DeceptionArtist.com  EFFECT: A transposition that happens n the spectator’s hands.  Okay I picked this up yesterday late afternoon and as usual started to have a good read with a cup of coffee, Once again I found myself chuckling at a simple yet effective method. The routine itself looks and appears as a normal transposition of 2 cards but this has an added aura about it. This little bit of extra is that fact of the spectator doing the work, the transposition in the laymen’s eyes appears to happen under impossible conditions as one moment they have their selection staring at them face up, next thing they know they are spreading the cards in their hands ( which the magician has not touched ) and they are now looking at the performers card… No switches or anything, I had the chance to give this the Wife test and she was shocked, just shook her head and walked away.  PDF: The PDF is laid out well, with pictures showing the layouts and moves needed to perform this effect. There is one sleight required but didn’t need to be explained as every magician or card worker should know this already, apart from that it’s pretty much self working and ends clean.  PRICE: Very cheap, I personally would have paid more for this if the price had been higher, but it seems that Rus just enjoys getting his material and ideas out there.  WORK-ABILITY: This for me is a definite worker and I would imagine great fun to perform, easy with no knuckle busting moves just a bit of audience management and presentation.  OVERALL: I am very happy with my purchase and the effect itself.  Great work Rus, look forward to any future releases. |

I just picked this up. For me, being a worker, when you purchase something you need to know that you're not gonna be wasting your money on something isn't practical for the real world. After taking a look at some of Rus' videos on YouTube, I can see that Rus, like me actually goes out and performs what he creates and gets it to work in the real world.
That being said, I didn't take much hesitation in checking out SHUNT. The effect is simple, in the spectators mind, easy to follow and allows for a great moment of magic. The method is deceptive and easy to execute. I haven't taken this out to work with yet as I've just finished going through it but it's one of those effects that you know will just go down a storm in real performance. For a fiver, you get a solid effect that you'll be excited to take out and use straight away, BARGAIN!! Lloyd |

I know it's only a fiver but I gotta ask..
'Do you need to quickly grab the cards the spectators are left holding in case they find something?' If you prefere, just PM me Cheers Chris |

This does use gaffed cards that cannot be examined. So yes, you will need to have some audience management at the conclusion.

The moves are all justified in the routine to enable the clean up with no problems, you are left with a clean examinable deck at the reveal of the tabled card, I have been performing this at many of my gigs to test and ensure all the actions are justified.
You do not have to snatch the cards straight out of the spectators hands, with the right audience management this is a nice flowing effect that ends clean. Any further questions regarding shunt feel free to either email of pm me. Russel@DeceptionArtist.com All the best Rus ANDREWS |

I got this from Rus for reviewing and although I'm not a card guy at all I can see myself performing this (effect- and technicalwise); for the same reasons, however, I can't comment on originality as I'm not seasoned in card magic literature, but I'm confident Rus checked out his sources and indeed he gives credits at the end of the little script.
To perform Shunt you need some commonly used gaffs that most of you probably already have in your arsenal. The effect is bold but plays exactly as described; since you don't end clean (that's a thing of impossiblity in a trick with so little sleight of hand) I think it is best suited in a formal strolling environment like a bar or on the street where there's enough motivation to take back the cards within a reasonable period of time. Conclusion: it's bold, it's direct, it's fun - I do like Shunt!

The structuring of this routine leaves you completely clean at the end including the entire deck. It plays out exactly as advertised and is quite simple to do. As far as gaffs, yes there are a couple but it's doubtful you do not already have them unless you are new to card magic. The beauty of this effect is the magic does happen in the spectators hand, which is always a plus. The surprise factor of them spreading the 3 cards they have held since the start and seeing their selected card is no longer in their hand but your selection is , well is priceless. They immediately stare at the transposed selection and jump on the card sitting on the table, in the card box, under an ash tray, wherever you had it placed after you selected it. At this momemnt, they create their own misdirection, their own attention focused entirely on the 2nd card, which is their selection, the selection supposed to be in their hand which now is not in their hand.So to answer one of the questions that came up on here, no you do not need to snatch the cards immediately out of the spectators hands, no need too. It is at this point where you simple and casually take back the cards from them as they look at the other selected card, shocked that it is now their selection. The entire deck is on the table at his point. Effect over, spectator devastated. This is a quick read, a PDF type effect which is priced right, a solid effect, fun to do and a routine you will use immediately. Recommended.

Purchased and downloaded, and I must say this is exceedingly clever and does deliver on the ad copy.
Having said that, I wish there were a video of Rus performing this all the way through. I'm not looking for video instructions, but I would love to see how he manages the audience, especially since he's been doing this effect a lot. Perhaps something like that could be shared with those who've purchased the effect? Just an idea. |
