A Marshall figure on ebay - very interesting - it sure looks good;
http://tinyurl.com/3pkky6k What will be even more interesting is watching the bidding on this one.

Today on ebay you will see a listing for a Frank Marshall figure. This is a scam. That figure is the Donny O'Day figure which is in the Ventriloquist Central Collection. I did the whole story about this figures travels from ebay to me and now this scammer is trying to dupe someone. Be forwarned!!

Well guess that explains why it was over 600. this morning and now is only over 150.
So someone has a figure up for sale that they do not have to sell?

Yes they do not own that figure. They used pictures from when it was originally sold on ebay over a year ago. It is now in the Ventriloquist Central Collection.

Has this been reported to eBay?

Tom I have reported it to ebay but as a non bidder and third party there is little I can do. This is why I posted this on my blog, here, my forum and facebook. Hopefully people will see and someone won't get burned. But the bidding is going on and I am afraid someone is going to get cheated. Please if any of you reading can also file a report with ebay it would be appreciated. I reported the listing as fraud.

Anyone who bids that much almost deserves to get stiffed. The seller (listed as San Antonio) has a history of (0). You would have to be nuts to bid on that with no seller track record. Everybody has to start somewhere, but when you are selling a "Picasso" you should have a history.
Dan, could you get your friend that you got Donnie from to contact Ebay? Since he is the one who actually purchased the figure, he might have some credibility with the site. Otherwise, lets slam the seller with email questions like "Can you prove you actually own this puppet"? The one good thing is that Ebay policy will keep the funds frozen until he delivers since there is no seller history. Steve http://www.thedummyshoppe.com |

I'm awaiting a reply to my question, "Can I pick up the figure, if I'm the winner bidder." Still I'll get a reply?????

Dan,
Thanks are due you. I believe that you making a point of this combined with reporting it to Ebay probably caused them to cancel the listing. At least some unsuspecting "newbie" won't suffer a huge lose at the start of their vent/collecting career due to a dishonest person. Thanks again. I want to thank all of you who also helped by passing the word on this scam. I was instrumental in having ebay remove the listing and I am happy no one got taken by this unscrupulous ebayer.

You've got to be wondering what they were hoping to gain. As Steve mentioned, with 0 feedback, the money anyone paid for it would have been held by PayPal until the buyer notified them that the item had been received. So the seller stood no chance of gaining anything from their bogus listing.
